I am a newbie of course. I have a v1.0 xbox. I modded it with an xecuter3. The chip install part was easy. What i can't figure out is how to load the bios and the dashboard and whatever else i have to put on it. If someone could help me out that would be great. I have tried IRC and i have all kinds of files that say bios and all the other junk i am supposed to have. I have followed all the steps i think but for some reason it isn't loading a new bios. if anyone can help my email is skiddles@dr.com...
Loading all this stuff is probably easy but i can't figure it out. i am thinking about giving up.

Quasiskiddle,

By far the easiest way is to either flash using ftp or http.. http is the easiest. For complete noob instructions go here http://home.comcast.net/~x3guide/ and then click on BIOS Flashing. About halfway down the page you will find instructions for flashing using ftp and http. BTW.. Be sure you are using eithet the X3 1959 or 2914 bios and that you have your switch set to turn protect off. Without that done and without your switch settings correct you will continue to have problems. The link about is a good place to learn everything you need to start enjoying your X3 chip... Let me know if you have any further questions.

Alright, now i have the bios!!! Thanks for all the help.. My next question is there a way to network flash the evox dash on to the new bios. or do you have to do it with a disc? I finally got the bios on it by network flashing and it was actually really easy, i am just wondering if you can do that with the dashboard also. I am using Memorex 4x cd-rw's but they seem to be not working so if there is another way to do the dash, or a different brand of cd that works better, i would like to know. Thanks

eek..

Okay, you are now done with the chip. FlashProtect it and DONT do anything more with the chip.

Your dashboard goes to the hard drive. Not the chip. Your chip can only hold a few MB..not a few hundred Smile

Basically, you need to now decide what you are doing with your hard drive. Are you installing a larger one (Highly recommended) or are you going to run with the stock hard drive.

Once you make that decision, now lets get that hard drive configured.

Your best bet. Get an autoinstaller. An autoinstaller will install all of your applications to your hard drive, including your dashboard. It will also prepare your hard drive so that your dash operates correctly and looks to the correct folders for all of your apps, emulators, and games.

Read some basic tutorials.. EvolutionX for dummies is a great starter. It's a little older, and some of the methods won't apply to you, but the basics will.

You can either install evolution X via the installer, or, create an evox cd itself, or create folders and then FTP the evox files into it. This will create need for you to edit your evox.ini file though. Again, I highly recommend using an autoinstaller and reading some tutorials so you have a better understanding on how the chip and files work

By far the easiest and best is the XBHQ-AID 1.01 autoiinstaller. This has EVERYTHING but the kitchen sink... Good luckl to you!
