So hows it goin... I'm new here, and from what I see, very nice place you all maintain here ... I'm sure this site will help me in the future, and preferably right now. Wich brings me to my problem. OK so I've recently purchaced from a friend a modded xbox. I'd say about 3 months ago. Well I just got the crafy idea to start making it look cooler, via fourms i've read here. So I took apart the ol box, just to make sure I could, and reassebled it. It worked no problem. Now to add the cool cold cathode to make the jewel glow. Again, took it aprt, hooked it up, put it back together and thats when disaster struck. I turned on the box, it started up once, the shut off, did that once more, then on the third boot up, I got this lovely green and red flashing light. OK so apart with the box again. Disconnected the cathode, and cast it asie. reconnect everything. And again, same boot up problem. If you were wondering, I hooked the molex connecter into the back of the hard drive, with the actual connection to the hdd 'piggybacking' onto it. And yes, I've made sure all the connections were nice and snug when trying it again. So I just need an idea where to look to fix this. please please please please please hemp me, its been one day and I already miss my xbox!!! Any help eithe rwright in here, email at nandrews46@netzero.com, or hit me up on aim, elitevapor46. Thanks everyone in adance for the hlep. Arrow

first thing i'd say to try is to make sure all the plugs are really tight. sometimes they can be deciving. second is to check the power cords on the power board, make sure you didnt rip something out.

Sounds like you may have bumped the chip. My bet is it's a solderless intallation. When you play around, or even move around a machine with a solderless install you are risking the need of realignment. That is why a lot of people get their chip soldered.

You are probably going to have to take a crash course on your particular chip so you can align it correctly. Reason why I say crash course is because you don't wanna just go in there and start moving it around. Some chips have rather sharp pogo's and can scratch your traces on your motherboard. If that happens, get ready to buy a new motherboard....it will render your machine useless.

Sweet, you guyes rock so much, but you probably already knew that... there was a little silver cable coming out of the chip leading to a parallel port, and something else somewhat important, but anyways came a little lose... so next question ... any way to attach that better, it seems to just slide out ... and another i believe its a xecuter1 chip, and i easily 'plug and play' upgrade to a 3??? and what are the benefits of that. thanks again

The X3 mod chip would require a different adapter for solderless I would imagine. I know for soldering it is a larger pin header, so I would think solderless adapter would be different.

I have never installed a solderless one, nor have I ever installed Xecuter 2.3, 2.6, or anything older than those. Only the X3's.

maybe someone else can give you some other info
