Since there are proframs like cloning Hdd Why can't there be something that makes a bootable ftp iso disc so you can add roms from a disc like magic-rom-iso-maker. Im not sure how it all works but maybe there could be a bat folder then a rom folder and the emulator gets turned i to an iso then it could get transfered to the Hdd of the Xbox.
Im not that good at explaining things but hope the idea makes sense.

The main reason is because its impossible to boot an xbox off FTP. It already needs to be on and booted to be able to FTP. Plus when it coes to FTP you never put stuff in ISO format thats only for disc. There are programs that can make an ISO for XBOX like Cxbox tools, Craxtion 4, Alcohol 120 and Ultra ISO The issue with many programs isnt that they cant make the ISO but rather they rename files to be compliant with either UDF or ISO9660. Programs meant for Windows like Nero or Imgburn make the image so it will work with a PC they were never meant to make an XISO.
Plus that makes it more complicated than it needs to be just use Internet Explorer to FTP and its as simple as copy and paste. All I do is go into network properties set my connection to be shared, plug in either a crossover or regular ethernet cable to my PC and XBOX. Turn on the XBOX go into settings switch it to DHCP and save and reboot. You will get an IP, open Internet Explorer in the address bar type ftp:/xbox:xbox@the XBOXs IP and hit enter. Go up to page click on open FTP site in windows explorer it will now open the XBOXs HDD as if its just another drive on the PC and you just copy and paste any emus, roms and apps you want to add

I've been working with ftp for the last couple of years and I'm still learning what it can do I just Fiilezilla and just connected me ipod touch to it so port 21 is a open port and port 22 is a secure port. Really cool stuff but uploading 3000files worth of stuff *Cough* Drupal* Not so fun.

nice, finally someone who is new and doesn't say "wtf is this FTP stuff" lol. Yeh i use it everyday being a web developer and tech guy. Can't go without it.
I hope you find the site useful mate. I've spent ages helping members and designing the xbox 1 site but now spend most of my time on the 360. We have a really talented bunch of guys around here if you decide to stick around.

No doubt, I'm really into modding my friends are always on my ass about it OHMAHGAWD thats illegal shiz your doing. But who cares their playing and it's fun to see what a console can do beyond what microsoft/sony etc...says what it can do thats the whole point in modding to have fun with it. Right now I'm waiting on the 0225 firmware to be released since I got mine like right when they stopped making 9504.
