Anyone have a link on renaming emulators? I'm guessing you have to change something in a xml file but I'd have no where to look.

You would need to change the XBE as well which is a little tricky. You can name them whatever you want on your PC ie rename FCE ultra to NES Ultra but once it hits the XBOX the xbe will tell it its called FCE. CXBOX-tools can be used to rename and patch the xbe, but I cant guarantee it wont cause problems.

Is the ticking noise coming from the Xbox? If so, your hard drive in your Xbox may be on it's last leg. _________________

That sucks, I rarely used it too. Maybe I'll be able to buy one soon. What happens when it goes bad just an error message?

When it starts to get really bad the startup video/intro when you turn on your xbox will get jerky and then probably give you an error code.
It's pretty easy to clone your hdd now before it dies, with another.. Look into a app called chimp. There are plenty of tutorials in our tutorials area here - http://tutorials.xbox-hq.com

I hope it lasts for ages for you and you dont need to worry!
Couldn't I just use any old HDD though? I used SID5PIMPED on it so I didn't chip it or anything. I'm thinking of getting a 2TB but I can't find any on Amazon that are IDE.

Hi mate,
You can use any hdd that is lockable. Here is a link to our Xbox 1 HDD Database. It will help you find out which drives are lockable and those which are NOT lockable. If you don't have a modchip your hdd must be locked.
You can also use a SATA drive but i have no experience with them, i doubt they are diffult to install and clone. SPPV might have done one of two, maybe he has a video tutorial..
You can hook up a SATA drive to a IDE cable? I'm guessing I'd need a type of adapter it's a shame the Xbox 1 didn't release when USB was starting to get popular with consoles.

The adapter you linked me to is only for power. the model you need is a SABRENT SBT-STDB converter.
this is info from one of SPPV's previous threads:
Quote:
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
1. SATA harddrive. I assume there are other drives that will work as well, but I chose to use a Western Digital Caviar GP WD10EACS 1TB. It proved to be lockable so it will work for either modchip users or those with softmods. It is also very quite and runs quite cool to the touch. Regardless, you will need LBA48 support in your bios or a softmod which supports it such as nkpatcher (I use nkpatcher 11).
2. SATA to IDE adapter. Again, there may be other adapters that work, but I know this one does: SABRENT SBT-STDB IDE Ultra ATA-100/133 to SATA Port Mini Converter
Thats it really. I wont bother with a step by step as no trickery is required, the basic howtos for a harddrive upgrade will work fine. I used xboxhdm v1.9 and followed the normal procedure which can be found on this site. I used xbpartitioner and chose to split the free space across F and G using 32KB clusters. I ended up with 2 496GB partitions, and have completely filled up one of them with no corruption issues.
Happy upgrading!

But it appears from what Ive read from others who have done it that it can lead to ghosting and data corruption. The new version of XBOXHDM is supposed to natively support SATA so I would assume that whatever bugs in 1.9 that caused the corruption issues have been fixed. If you still have access to the EEPROM file, perhaps try the manual code generation and MSDOS to unlock it and try a rebuild with the new version.
