Hey guys, this should be easy...I've successfully softmodded my xbox with the Mechassault exploit and loaded EvoX. I've also loaded XBMC to E:\apps\xbmc\. My xbox boots to EvoX and I can launch XBMC from the "run apps" selection on the EvoX menu and it runs great!
Question: How can I make the system boot directly to XBMC?
I've tried replacing the xboxdash.xbe file on the root of the c:\ drive but that just crashes the system and I have to start over using 'xboxhdm' to rebuid my drive. I don't have an e:\dashboard directory either. I do have the following dir's that may be of help:
c:\xodash
e:\apps\evox
e:\apps\xbmc

I guess I need to understand more about the actual Softmod process. From what I can gather, Evox softmod exists in the files on the c: drive root dir and you cannot change them. It least everytime I have touched them, the system crashes.
Does XBMC come as a full blown softmod?

Do you know how to setup an FTP connection from your PC to your XBOX? If so you can try this:
FTP in to the XBox and goto E:\dashboard
In there you will see either a file named config.xml (Unleash-X) or evox.ini (Evo-X)
Ftp them to the pc as a backup and then just ftp over your build of XBMC from the pc to the xbox, (use a untouched xboxmediacenter.xml the first time), to E:\dashboard
Reboot your box and you should be done!
This is the best explanation i found on how to do it. _________________

I always used Xselect to do the work for me and it makes it so if your main dash acts up you can launch to some other dash or even an App.

Well in the long run its best to just let AID 4.20 install your dash for you but i think the xbmc site has a short cut xbe you can just ftp to the E drive and it will make XBMC your dash.
