Because we have upgraded our hard drives. I have 1 Xbox with a 400GB, 1 with a 250GB and one with a 40GB that is how we fit so many games.

I heard there was a way to get some extra space out of a stock HDD, I'm not really sure how though. You're better off getting a new one though. I used an old 40 gig I had laying around and I'm happy with it. This is how I did mine -> http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-153.html _________________

Yes if you have a stock seagate you can get a couple of extra gigs on the f drive by lust formatting it (the F drive). If it is the western digital then you are stuck with the space you have. I recommend at least a 40 or bigger if you have the cash.

Its inevitible though, that if you want to back up more than one game onto your HDD in the future, you're going to need a bigger HDD.
Just weigh up how manygames / how much stuff you're looking to backup and get a drive suitable for your needs.
if I have like 70 games how much space do you think i need?

For one, unlocking the hard drive will make a softmodded xbox useless. Only modchipped xboxes can use unlocked hard drives. If you unlock it and you dont have a mod chip then your in trouble. Also i use a 320 Gig maxtor HDD and it holds alot, id advise you get it too if you have 70 games. It is about $95 and is like $9.99 for shipping, but its great. I got mine off pcconnection.com _________________

I agree, a drive around the 300GB mark should meet your backup needs.
my xbox is softmodded ya so good thing i didnt unlock the thing
oh and i also tried formatting the F drive n that gives mean extra 2 gigs n a half so thats good for a start oh n ill see if i can get a better hard drive but dont i have to open my xbox for that? thats why i got softmod so i wouldnt have to open it...
FC is right a 300 HDD should be good, i have a 320gig Seagate and have around 60-70 games and 8-10 gigs of music and music videos...... and there's still space for more......
RB
And i have put nothing but apps, gamesaves in E drive. _________________

check it out : http://smdepot.net/news/?page_id=28
thing is it probably doesnt cst much to make so i could probably just try n make one... but if anyone already has made one id like to know if its worth it... thx

To be honest, if all you're looking for is a simple HDD upgrade, its really not worth going external.
I know it sounds daunting, opening up the box and swapping drives, but it really is easy to do. We have plenty of tutorials to help and all the guys here are but a message away.
You're better off going for an internal drive. You get better transfer speeds, less to go wrong and once its done, its done. Doesn't take up as mych space plus the case helps with soundproofing. All in all, a lot of reasons why internal is a better choice than external.

You will want to get a internal because it is much easier to use. Also if its softmodded your going to have to open up your computer and plug the new HDD. You will need a program called XboxHDM as well. Find a tut for this program, king roachs tut is great for softmodded people. _________________
