hi everyone i'm a newbie and i need help plz
i have just bought a new xbox and it shows me that my xbox requires service and i have an error code which is: 13 and i dont know what to do so plz help me guys

13 - kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed.
The error it gives is because of the incompatibility between the (older) dashboard (4920) that older slayer cd installs and the new dashboard/kernel versions found in some new xbox's and found in xbox's that have been connected to xbox live (when you go on xbox-live, it'll upgrade your dashboard file to i believe it is now 5659.03. This dasboard is incompatible with the dash that (old) slayer cd installs (for example 2.5 or lower) for you.
(In detail, in the eeprom chip there is a kernel which is incompatible with the dashboard (4920) that slayer installs.)
So what do you do to fix it? You can use the dashupdate found on most new xbox games! Be sure to 1st unplug your ethernet cable before you do so!!!
Besides that, just use a good installation disc and all is fine. Use a 2.6 slayer or something similar

thank you but can you explain more cuz i need to play on it and for more information my xbox said : your xbox requires service and error code 13 but when i put a DVD on the drive it becomes error code 14 and thanks

Is the xbox Chipped or softmodded do you no?? if so do you have the AID disc. if its softmodded i would say sumones stuffed it all up the dash and that.
Same thing as above (error 13). This time it is also a little mistake from you on changing names or having played around with files on the xbox harddisk. Error 14 is most often because you changed boot orders or names of startup files on the harddisk. It can also happen when you are rebuilding your xbox harddisk with a slayer cd and the power was cut.

Well basically, error's 13, 14 and 16, like Bluezone said, are all dashboard related.
You're gonna have to start a fresh. Download AID and start again, putting on a fresh new install of the dashboard. That'll get rid of all the errors you're getting.

Aid (auto installer deluxe) is a disc which contains numerous programs which can be placed onto your xbox by simply clicking it while running the disc....it contains many dashboards so you could pick which one you want to use. It can be downloaded in the vip section i believe....you could simply download the dashboard you need and reinstall it via ftp but I have a feeling that may not be the easiest method for you since you seem to not be very knowledgable of the inner working of your xbox...my first suggestion would be to begin downloading aid3.0 or higher and in the meantime visit aideluxe.com and read up about what it does and what you will need to do. good luck. _________________ Xbox V1.6

Download AID disc and do fresh install of dash the AID is free and can be downloaded off torrents or off this site. everything you will ever need and dont need is on the cd.
