Posted: Wed Oct 25, 2006 11:44 pm Post subject: RCA VPort (Component video) not displaying correctly
I have an RCA TV with what they call a VPORT. It's "Xbox Ready" and the VPORT basically looks exactly like the port for A/V on the Xbox. The instructions for the TV say an Xbox can be plugged in there with a special cable (which I have) or a special cable can accept component video from a DVD. SO, with that said, I'm fairly certain that the Vport is exactly the same (other than the connector) as a 3-wire component video+2-wire rca Audio input.
After softmodding, when using the Vport and loading UnleashX, the video flickers for a few seconds and the Xbox reboots. This happens over and over again. I'm not having to use the normal composite video cables that came with the Xbox.
Since I think the Vport is the same as component video- is there anything I have to do to get component video working? It's not an HDTV, so increasing the video settings shouldn't solve it. Anyone have any idea what I can do? The quality between Vport and composite is really noticable and I'd really like to use it with my softmodded Xbox.

I used AID and SID over the standard video display. I used UnleashX as my dashboard (but I'd like to switch to XBMC as a dash).

I have SID4.5-- know where I can find this patch?

EDIT: I found my AID 3.01 Update CD and it has the patch in the softmod section. I ran it and I said "Yes" to wanting to install it, but then it asked if I wanted to remove it? I said "Yes" and "No" and I can't tell if it did anything. I just posted in the AID forum how I borked my HD install. That's okay, I backed up my gamesaves and have been looking to upgrade the HD anyway.
I guess the install+uninstall steps are back-to-back just to keep the option screen simple. For me to install the HD patch, I'd say Yes, then No and it should work. If I wanted to uninstall it, I'd say No, then Yes. I was thinking it had a way to check to see if it was already installed but I guess not.
ANYWAY, with that out of the way, are my steps below ultimately what I want to follow to get my component video working:
Install SID4.5
Install HD Patch
Install various program with AID

I installed the HD patch with AID 3.10 and it didn't work. I'm using Single-boot SID 4.5, XBMC as the dash. When I use the component video the, Xbox logo comes up just fine, but the XBMC logo flickers and then my TV says unusable signal. I learned the button combinations to get from XBMC to the MS Dash thinking the MS Dash would show correctly and I'd need to change it to Progressive, but that didn't work on the other input- I could only hear sounds _________________ Xbox 1.1, SID 4.5, AID 3.0, Stock HD
