I installed an X-Chip and put EvoX v 1.0-1275 on it by connecting the chip to my PC thru USB. I can play back-ups but I have some problems still.
#1. When I turn on the X-Box I always have to press start to activate EvoX. Not a big deal but, is there a way to set it so it always comes on?
#2. Can't play DVDs now. Not sure why.
#3. The worst thing is that when I eject a game the XBox is flashing red and then diplays a screen saying the HD is damaged. So I swap games and shut it off and then turn it on and hit the start and they work.
In the EvoX Control Panel I selected Eject Fix Enabled which says the X-Box will not re-set if selected. However, eject still re-sets the X-Box.
I would appreciate any help. I've looked through old posts but can't fins the info. _________________ UnleashX Dashboard

hi FrozenInk and welcome to the xbox-hq crew..
Ok lets try to get these things sorted for you.

Ok.. That is to protect your xbox from being banned on XBOX LIVE.. Do you use the XBOX LIVE service?? You should look into what modchips you are buying before you do.. If you dont use the XBOX LIVE SERVICE then there is no need to have the protection..
The X-Bit is a great modchip but more for users who need the protection.

Ok.. So you have evox installed.. What DVD Application do you have in the EVOX MAIN MENU.. You should have DVDX (region free) Player.
More then likely if you dvd movies are NOT loading automatically you will need to edit your evox.ini and point the DVD Application to the correct path on your xbox..
Sounds like you have a bit to learn but its all good.. you will love it.

Your xbox sounds like it has all sorts of problem mate.. Really you should check to see that your XBOX HDD is locked.. Then we will move on from there.. YOu can check if the XBOX HDD is locked by choose the 'SYSTEM SETTINGS' option in the evox system management section..
anyway, hope that gets you started fixing your little probs..
dont worry too much you will get there.. Its just a matter of time.
Thanks for the help. I am new to this so I DO have a lot to learn. I did get the chip installed by myself so I have something going for me.
#1 No I do not use or need XBox Live. So I don't need the protection. I would just as soon have EvoX on all the time. It will probably cause less headaches.
#2. Under Standard EEPROM Ican choose a region 00-08. I am on Region 01. I did not see anything about DVDX in any of the selections.

#3. I locked the Hard Drive. No it wasn't locked. And this is one area I don't get. What's the difference?

2. Burn the XBOX HQ AUTO INSTALLER to a DVD-R/CDRW that you know you xbox will read.. Use DVDDecypter or your favourite .iso burning software. (eg. nero)
3. Boot your xbox with the modchip enabled and the XBHQAI disc inserted.
4. A menu will come up and will let you format/partition your xbox back to new.
5. Follow the onscreen instructions.. They are very simple
WARNING:
Always make a backup of everything on your XBOX HDD before you format/partition or copy.. Use a Game Save Manager on your pc to backup your GAMESAVES properly..

Cool. That seemed to fix everything but playing movies. When I try to install the DVD I go down to "Play Game/Media From DVD" and want to select the next one which is "DVD Movie Player" but it scrolls past that and the Media Center. Did I miss something on the Auto-installer? I tried to install the "DVD Region Free Patch" for Microsoft Dashboard under "Other Apps" but the Loading Screen stayed on for what seemed like forever so I shut it off.
Please help!!!

Yep, you missed something
There is some more things you need to do before installing the applications.
In the section where it says "Format / Prepare", there are some prepare options at the bottom of this menu. What they do is copy over blank folders to the Xbox HDD so that the applications can be installed to them.
It sounds silly that you do this manually, but it's not really. If you use other installers they would only set up the folders in the partition the apps are copied in, this way if you have a G Drive for exmample, you can set up the folders on there too
So, this is what you do:
* You go to the "Format / Prepare HDD" Menu
* Now, depending on what drive you have there are 3 options:
Prepare E Drive (suited for standard xbox hdd's)
Prepare E+F Drives (suited for a replaced hdd under 136 gb)
Prepare E+F+G Drives (suited for replaced hdd's over 136 gb)
* Install your apps, this time they'll actually install
It seems a lot of ppl are not understanding this, maybe I should put a sticky up about it

Also, did you try DVDs without the region-free patch?
I hardly bother to even use it sometimes and I get stuff to play fine, but then again I use DVDX which loads from EvoX, not the proper Microsoft DVD player...
