I can't get my xbox to boot with my modchip disabled... It just turns on and shuts right back off. It works fine with the modchip enabled.
I have an xecuter 3 CE modchip and a locked maxtor 120gig hd.
Can anybody tell me what the deal is?
THANKS!

Hey, It'll be a lot easier for us to help you if you give us a little more info
e.g. sodlerless chip?, just installed?, problems before?, previous mods?, xbox version, etc.
It sounds though like it could be an issue with the TSOP (M$ onboard bios chip), or possibly shorts, busted tracks etc. around the LPC (the holes where you install the chip). _________________

yes i think something is wrong with your TSOP. The original bios chip in the xbox. The modchips contain a seperate bios... _________________

Lets see... the power button is quick press to use modchip and long press is disable modchip.
Its a soldered on x3 on a v1.6 mb running the 3294 bios. I have a X3 Control Panel w/LCD too if that matters... It won't boot without the modchip since the installation of the modchip. It worked fine before that.

So if you hold the power button and the xecuter dip switch panel is red, thats when you get the flashing? What if you remove the chip entirely fromt he LPC? _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

It boots with the modchip when you press the eject button.
And yeah, I hold the power button down and the dip switch panel turns red and the eject button turns green then it just shuts off. it does this every time you try boot without the modchip.

I think it was mentioned earlier, but is there any damage to the board around the LPC's, or any lifted traces? _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

yes, there were a few lifted traces that I had to repair... It was a resurrection of a failed mod attempt.

You may want to double check the traces with a multimeter to ensure that those are not the problem, as they usally are. _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

I've checked them over and over again...
Someone mentioned it could be a tsop problem... any idea if that's the issue?

It's possible, was a tsop ever attempted? Can you test continuity across the bios chip? _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

There has never been any type of work done on the tsop.
