For the first question, your answer is yes and no, your limited to the size of game that is put in to the f drive.

The second question is No, it runs just as fast with a bigger harddrive. Unless you use a harddrive with a 512K buffer and 5200 Rpms. The retail xbox hardrive is your standard 2MB or 8MB buffer 7200 Rpm drive.

I would go with either a Western Digital or a Maxtor. They are the most reliable. Seagate is good too, but not my favorite choice. Maybe a 300gb if your willing to spend it and put your hdd to use.

every new hd is going to be over 8mb buffer so dont worry about it ....

it depends on the projecter bulbs and how much you use it but theres no way of telling if and when the bulbs burn out.
