Kinda skimmed through this post... Picked up the part about where (or how) to install other dashes with SID4.5. With the old sofmtods, you were able to just install the dashboard you want over the C drive (because everything's patched and such). But you can't install to C with SID4, the whole virtal C thing .
With SID4 and 4.5 you install everything to E. If you want to install XBMC as your dash, just use AID and choose to install it to E. Sit back, and let it to its thing. . _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

ok with aid 3.0 when you install a softmod dashboard it installs to E? I see, so hypothetically, when I want to upgrade my dash to the latest dash I find, i can boot to my softmod menu (tray open) and then ftp the new dash to the same spot on e and it will work or does it have to be a special flavor of the dash (softmod dash from an autoinstaller disk)? Can it be just any dash that I downloaded from the internet (newzbin)?

Nonononono... With AID 3.0, you can choose whether or not you wanna install to C or E, thus making it possible to boot from either one... ONLY WITH SID 3.0 OR EARLIER!!!! But with SID 4.0 (or 4.5) you can only boot from E. The C is virtually patched so that nothing can really be written to it.
As for "any ol' Dash": Yes, you can, but I suggest sticking with those that are on the AID 3.0 disc, as those have all been tested. (The main three are EvoX, UnleashX, and XBMC) _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

so your saying that if you install sid 4.0, when you run the aid 3.0 disk you select to install a regular dashboard to E or a softmod dashboard to E?

Select "Intstall Dashboard (Softmod)" then choose to install them to E _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

Well, everything went smooth. There are some extra steps in regard to the eeprom patching and a required reboot without the aid disk in. But they are very self explanatory.
One difference is that the eeprom backup was in a save game not E/backup like before. But I found it after digging through the tdata and udata folders. The other difference was after upgrading the hard drive with xboxhdm I could only boot to ms dash as if it wasnt softmodded at all so I just re-exploited with mechassault then booted aid 3 disk and choose install softmod dashboard to e : dhcp and I was done.
On a sidenote: the version of xbmc included on aid3.0 is pimp. It has several scipts and skins included. Im very impressed.
Thank you team!

well im glad that worked out just fine for you... yea how is it that the eeprom patching was a bit complicated? as that was during the softmod install...... yea you see what eeprom patching does is it put it on e/eeprom or somtin... which is the FAKE one and then programs like confimagic wont mess up xbox so ur real one is hidden within e/udata ..... this is useful if u want to upgrade ur hd then u 'll know where ur real eeprom is ......
but yea i really didnt get what was so complicated about the eeprom patching.... lol _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

well see that is the thing ... the nice thing about the sid 4 .0 and 4.5 that it is script so u wont mess up ... so for say u mod for some1 else and he she doesnt know crap about this and trys to delete a dash the rescue dash loads and error 22 runs and they press A and evertyin back to mod normal.....
now like i said 4.0 has more safetly ooptions.... while 4.5 is for xbox live users and for pal users ....
i recommend stayin w/ 4.0 if u dont use xbl or arent pal users!>
Gus738, are you saying the SID 4.5 doesn't have the "Press A" safety options? I seem to recall (from what I've read) that it does... but I could be wrong.
Thanks.

no the A button is rescue dash , that is something else...
lets say you try running configmagic on sid 4.0 and it wont let you even load the app.... and you try it on sid 4.5 and it will run ....
but like i said... 4.0 more buggy ... 4.5 better for xbox live users... upto you _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition
