and all that but security enabled said YES

i put it in my xbox and it wont work for some reason.. what am i doing wrong here can someone please tell me?? do i need to unlock my stock drive from the xbox then put in the new drive or what? also my xbox is softmoded and its a version 1.0 xbox.

the drive locks and all but when i put it in the xbox it says your xbox requires service.. no error codes nothing.. and the jumpers are set right on the drive

im also using sid 4.0. can someone please HELP ME OUT ive been working on this for almost 4hours now and plus the other days.

check all connections to see if they are all seated tight the IDE cables, power cables on the drives and motherboard.

yes they are cause i can plug in the stock hdd right now and it will work fine.

you might also want to check the jumper settings on your hd. just make sure its master and not cable select. i kinda had the same problem one time but it was just the jumper settings.

i tried every possible jumper setting on the hard drive.. still no luck get the xbox needs service..

what could it be with my eeprom?

Put your xboxhdm iso in pc and open to view files. Check eeprom folder and see what the size is. It should 256 bytes and if it's 0 bytes, that's the problem.

it needs to say

Secerty enambled:yes (that means it worked)

nd at the top it shouold say like security possible (some thing like that)

i was being ingorant and thought it had to say securtiy locked but for the xbox to "lock the drive" so the xbox can read it but it relly needs to say security enabled

yah it says yes for both of them.. cause once i reboot the computer xboxhdm tells me that the hard drive is locked. and i have to unlock it in order to change anything on it.

well if its locked and it wont unlock in your xbox, you probably got the wrong eeprom in it.
