I really tried readin around before asking this, but I can't find anything, plus its gonna sound like one very silly question, but here goes.

On a new disk, if you plan to install an alternative dash EvolutionX or XBMC, why do you need to install MS Dash first ?

Is MS dash required and should it always be on c: ?

Chipped box doesn't really need M$ dash, softmods do and then yes, it must be on C.
