I was planning to use XBMC as my dashboard as music, videos and pics will be my main use.
1 - Is XBMC a good dash to use ?
2 - I read that the Application folder will auto-scan locations defined in the xml, so this mean new apps will get discovered, right ?
3 - How do i use ftp ? will i have to install EvolutionX as application and startup application whenever i want to use ftp ?
My xbox will be plugged into my modem/router so would have access to internal network and internet.

Do it.
1 -Hell yes.
2 - Correct.
3 - This is kinda funny, but even if you have your network settings, you will have ftp access, you'll just never know what your ip is.........at least i never found the area where it specifies your current IP when your in DHCP.
yes to all. _________________ Xbox v1.1

Thanks for quick reply.
Clarification on 3, so your saying i need to install it, but need not have to be running it in order to use ftp. I was thinking of enabling static IP to aviod ip problem.

With a static IP setup in XBMC, I've had no problems FTPing, or browsing the 'net. In fact, I can do both at the same time
So once you work out the network settings, it should all be fine. _________________

Well, technically not 'browsing the net' like you might do with linksbox or IE, but by using the built-in script browser (which requires you to be connected to the 'net), you can D/L scripts to browse media online, e.g. videos, web radio, movie trailers etc.
Sorry for the confusion _________________
