ok im new here and i want help softmoding my xbox but i want a really good or the best tutorial on how to mod it with splinter cell
i want a really detailed one because i dont want to screw up my xbox
tools i owned
a homemade action replay
xbox vr.1.4 or 1.5
splinter cell
know where to get files

Get the save files (You will need the actual softmod and the NTSC or PAL loader depending on your box) Load them into your mem card, then drop them onto the xbox.
Now load up Splinter Cell, choose "start game" and load "Checkpoints" There should be a checkpoint called "Linux". Load that and you'll be greeted by the SID loader. First thing is first go to "Backup/restore features" and select "Create MS backup" This is ESSENTIAL if you still want to use your MS Dashboard, and if you want to get on live later.
Once that is done, go back to the main menu, choose File Manager and wipe your C drive (select all the files under C using the X button, press start and choose select from the drop down menu).
Now, you're at the point of no return. DO NOT REBOOT UNTIL THE NEXT STEPS ARE COMPLETE! Everything is loaded in the RAM and if you reboot, your xbox can only be coldbooted.
Go back to the main menu and choose install softmod... Being this is your first softmod, I'd go with a singleboot, choose boot from C, and you'll be good to go. I use Ndure, great engine, and the IGR is wonderful.
After the softmod is done, go back to the main menu and choose "patch MS Dash" wait for that to be done then install your dashboard of choice from the main menu. I go with UnleashX, it's very user friendly, and still has a gamesaves manager. Once all of this is done, your box is modded, eject the tray, catch the disc, and reboot.
Just a note, I'm using SID3 as a basis, I'm not too familiar with the SID4 menu seeing as how I've only modded my box with SID4 once. I've used SID3 numerous times, so this guide is all from memory, lol. If you feel i'm missing something, check the tutorials section of the site, or ask me here.
I highly reccomend downloading AID (auto installer deluxe) from http://aid.xboxhq.com it's very versatile, and has every app and tool a first time modder needs.
