Posted: Sat Dec 31, 2005 1:01 am Post subject: Help increasing hard drive on softmod 1.6.
I am trying to install a 200gb hard drive into a softmod Xbox v1.6. I am a long time modchipper, first time softmodder. I did my first softmod using SID 4.0 (wow, what a great development) and everything went fine. I then proceeded to follow the instructions for AID 2.11, and my troubles began.
I connected to the softmod Xbox and backed up "C" and "E", including the bios backup. I then backed up my bios on my modchipped Xbox. I have been unsuccessful at writing a usable version of AID 2.11, as I constantly get write errors (different media, different computer).
My modchip supports multiple bios (XBIT 2MB). I loaded the backed up bios from the softmod Xbox to my modchip, but my chipped Xbox fails to boot. This leads me to believe that I cannot use a 1.6 bios backup on a 1.0 Xbox.
I merely want to increase the hard drive size on my softmod Xbox 1.6. I don't have the ability to do via the PC install, as I only have laptop computers. Any guidance would be appreciated.
