But that would mean that all my saves would be gone... but at least my xbox would be fine, right? I'll save that link in case I REALLY need it.
Now that my xbox is modded up with both UnleashX and EvoX, I need to look for some halo 2 mod files (are they called "patches"?). Where can I find some?
toofly, I want to thank you for all the help you have given me! I have gotten past "part 2" of softmodding thanks to you.
btw, what is EEPROM? Is it my saved files that I can restore?

eeprom is the marriage between your harddrive and xbox. it is also what alows you to lock your harddrive. if your harddrive it not locked you cannot use it in the xbox, but if your harddrive it locked then you cannot use it on your computer. AND YOU CAN restore you xbox without losing your saves. your dash is located in your C partition of the xbox hard drive and your saves are in the E or F partion of your harddrive. so all you need to so is when u use http://freakyhosting.be/ms-c-hosted-by-pirrup.rar to restore your hard drive. remember to FTP everything in your E:/ or F:/ into the linux folder that says E:/ and you will still have all your saves after your done as for EEPROM use EVOX and on the dash go to SETTINGS and then BACKUP. once you've done so your eeprom will be in C:/backup when u ftp your xbox, EASY HUH? remember to place your eeprom in the folder that says eeprom in the sm-c-hosted-by-pirrup.rar and unlock your harddrive before you format and rebuild it. there you go your all done!!

There's actually a few easy ways to get your xbox back to stock.
1. Use Pirrup's MSDash-C backup and FTP the contents over. But there's a problem. You're using SID 4.5 so you can't write to the C drive. the MSdash backup is useless.
2. Re-Launch the Mechassault Exploit and tell it to uninstall the softmod.
and finally, the easiest way:
3. Pop in AID and unmount the virtual C drive (under the softmods menu), once the xbox has rebooted, uninstall Sid4.5 and restore MSdash. Simple, quick, and painless.
Now, of course, doing this does not remove everything from E (and F if you have one). It just makes it so your xbox is friendly to xbox live again, blah blah blah.
Now, the easy, and painless way to get on xbox live, and not have to worry about switching out mods back and forth is this:
Re-Launch your Mechassault exploit and choose to install your softmod. But don't choose single boot. Choose dual boot, MSDash. Now, when your mod is done, and you power on with the eject button, you are booting an untouched, pristince C drive, that allows you to play originals online. Now, power off this same xbox and power back on, and you can now play all your backups and unsigned code. But NOT online. Follow? Simple, easy, and no mod swapping. Hense why 4.5 was created. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."
