Hi all, its been a while, how is everyone ?
All's been well up until this morning. The old PC I use to share my XBox Media Center files with has just been updated from XP to Windows Vista. I shared out all the folders with the music/Video content I use for XBMC but everytime I try get access to anyone of the video folders it requests the SMB password. I have a username/password I use to get access to the vista machine and I have tried that but to no avail. I even changed the network settins so that I have input the username and passord but still it requests it !
In vista I have shared out all the folders for everyone and given them full control, rebooted, but still no joy. I have just switched off the Windows Firewall..another reboot, and yet still no access. I made sure I was looking at the right place by adding anew shae=re and adding that to the xml file to make sure it was not cachd but sure enough I can see all the network ahres, just can't access them.
Does anyone has any advice on where to go from here ?

the security in Vista has been totally revamped and needs to be changed in more than 1 place. This would probably be better directed to a PC/Vista forum. I'm no expert with Vista, but even simple things like installing programs onto the OS are a complete nightmare (security wise). Have you tried the Vista online help for file sharing and security settings?

M$ really screwed around with Vista. Its a whole new ball game. User security and file sharing are some major changes
