I'll repost my question...
A friend of mine wants me to softmod his xbox the same way I did mine. Problem is, he got his xbox used, and when I try to create MS Backup, it says that a softmod has already been installed and is aborting.
I looked on the E drive with SID 4.0 file explorer, and the only files are UDATA, TDATA, and CACHE....
Should I delete these?

i dont know if you are aware of ftping. ( check under my sig for a tut)
what we need to do is put wipe out everything on his C and put the ms dash on C ..... WARNING: fail to load anything on C and you get noting but trouble,
but you will be fine as long as you listen to me

Gus, I can't install the softmod. When I try to install it, I can't because I have not created MS backup.... I can't install MS backup because it says softmod already exists!!!!
How can I FTP into an unmodded XBOX, and how would that help?

OK, I fixed it. I had to manually move/copy all contents of C drive to E/BACKUP/MS
Once I did this, the SID install worked perfectly. I am now FTP'ing all skins and apps that he wants to his XBOX.

but i'd figure it was retail thas why i asked on my other post what is it loading ms dash or what?
