I have a 200Gig Maxtor HDD and i have xboxhdm which i used to create an xboxhd from scratch . then i put the eeprom from my retail xboxhd on the cd and used that to lock the HDD is this wrong the xbox will unlock for me using the eeprom and it also locks it because when i unlock it and leave it off it gives me error 05 when i put it in my xbox of course this is supposed to happen because its unlocked. then when i lock it with that eeprom and then its locked i put it in the xbox and it cant be unlocked i get error 06 of course i dont have a modchip and am wondering what it is that i seem to be doing wrong as it does seem im doing things right but since i am a newbie i dont know if i am actually doing it right.

what tutorial are you using??
Look through our xbox tutorials area.. You will find many tutorials on upgrading a softmodded xbox harddrive.
Ii have been through like every tutorial i have attempted pirrups tutorial but my xbox will not unlock the drive when i lock it and the password gets set to "XBOXSCENE" of course since i have a virgin bios is there something i need to do extra other than what is stated here http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-153.html also i have spent close to 24 hours trying to get this to work i have looked all over the place i found like 4 or 5 threads with my same problem but it seems the only solution i have found to it is having a chipped box. if this isnt so then i am definately doing stuff wrong. i have gotten all the way to locking the hard drive by typing lockhd -a but then i place it in my xbox after i remove the retail drive, which is also softmoded

sounds to me like you copied the wromg eeprom....what folder did you get it from? _________________

CABBOT your totaly right he has wrong eeprom.... santacruz you can have a bigger hd and we can help you w/out no chip ! . now how many mods attempts have you done? can you remeber which ones were they? or we can start nearly from scratch and re mod and get new working eeprom. your choice bro.....

why not just use chimp 2.4 its alot easier and all you need is a Y splitter whiech I got for like #.00 at my local computer shop. Its aolt easier than xboxhdm and you dont have to hook anything up to you computer since its all done on the xbox for a tutorial go aideluxe.com

Actually chimp 2.4 will lock the new hard drive you just have to follow the menu. it works Ive used it several times on other peoples xboxes and it was alot easier than xboxhdm1.9 try it you will never use xboxhdm1.9 again

it was definately a eeprom problem i went and grabbed it off my original xbox hd again and it worked this time 200 gigs of maxtor power. thanks alot you guys are the best I will pay more attention to what im doing next time as to not waste all of your time thanks again guys
