are you positive the drive is lockable??
Have a search through our xbox harddrives database for your model/serial.. Hopefully it is lockable and its just a small error.
your pcs bios setting for auto detect primary master is freezing the drive. adter you fix that setting and set it not to auto detect primary master your harddrive freeze feature will stop freezing the drive you might want to ry a different pc if this doesnt work. other than that i owuld say it might not be lockable.

Being a Compaq computer you hit F10 when you are trying to boot the computer, this will give you access to the bios screen, you should see some options for autodetect or maybe even a listing for that hard drive, just turn that to none or disable not sure what option it has there, and it should work fine for you. _________________

-this problem started happening to me lately.
-my pc bios does not have these settings, but this solution works for me every time.
When you boot your pc wait a few seconds(8-10), then pull your IDE cable out of your hard drive. Plug IDE cable back in as soon as xbhdm screen shows up. If done correctly, you should be able to lock the hard drive and start having fun!
Keep in mind that the timing is important and may take a few tries. The first and second times I had to do this I tried many times. Now I can usually get it on my first try.
