Hi...
I've read a post about upgrading to sid 4 with interest because i've just tried this with no succes.I've made a plenty of succesfull softmod with sid 3 but it seems a little trickier with sid 4 (?)
I've tried many way to resoftmod my xbox from sid 3 to sid 4/ with dual boot/NKnave what result in 2 differents problems ; the very first attempts were not ''too bad'' with the result that i was only unable to load Unleash X an alternative dash but only MSdash no matter how i power up the xbox. But it look well softmoded and functionnal to read all back-up.
After to many try of ''restore-uninstall-resoftmod'' (too many i guess ?) i think i've made it worst.Because now i'm unable to resoftmod it at all 'cause i'm getting the following error message : - Process. batch failed...last action was ''RENAME'' !
The xbox is still functionnal with no softmod and original msdash and i've still have acces to ''run linux''...but what about if dont have an original back-up of the C:\ drive, MS DASH and the UDATA folder ? (UDATA save games from sid 3.0 are required isn't it?)
Do you think i could ''resoft'' my box without having to sold a modchip in it? If it is...can u explain me how ?
What about if i dont find back on my PC '' the untouched'' msdash back-up ?
Is there a safeway to ''resoft'' it clean with sid 4 without having to sold a modchip in it?

some old softmod files are still present on your C partition where your ms dash is.
How to install SID 4.5 succesfully (please use 4.5 not 4.0)
1.- run SID with game of exploit
2.- either ftp ms dash to E:\Backup\MS\, or make sure that with the file manager, you don't have any softmod files in C.
3.- to install the Ndure option you MUST have ms dash 5960, if you don't have ms dash 5960, you cannot install this exploit, you must install any of the other.
4.- once you have your ms dash in E:\Backup\MS\, it's time to do the following on SID menu.
-backup eeprom
-install softmod>boot>dash
-power off, power back on, take out game
-run the last process
-enjoy the softmod. _________________ Xbox v1.1

I'm getting this problem too, and this is my first softmod attempt.
What's wrong?

ok so lets go to a few check list... what game are you using? is it the platimum edition ? and what files are you transfering? download aid 3 and use that zipped files to mem card so you can put them on the xbox . btw keep only 2 files that involve for the softmod and the actuall game. and finaly what you mean it doesnt work? _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

I'm using Splinter Cell.
It works, and I get to AID 4 (or at least that's what it says in the top right).
I made a backup of the EEPROM and the MS dashboard, and then went to "Install Softmod".
I want to have a Knaves Ndure, Open tray = Retail setup, so I chose that.
I then chose UnleashX as my dash.
After that, I get an error saying: "Batch process failed. Last file was: . ACTION: Rename" (or something very similar to that).
Could you tell me how to remedy this?

simple fix . download aid3 delete those saves and transfer the new ones to mem card. _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

How do I update my dash to 5960?
I'm pretty sure I made the backup.
