So I got everything to run perfectly but when I tried to boot up my xbox it says error 14 or 13. I put in mech and the game saves arnt there anymore. If I could just get the saves on my hd again I would be set. But it wont let me get to themain page that usta come up when I would start my xbox before...
No saves + No dash = Im fucked?

I think 007:AUF and possibly Splinter Cell, allow you to run saves off of a memory card, not sure if this allows you to boot xbes off of the memory card or not though, if you could load the gamesave up from the memcard, you could ftp the mechassault save into the correct folders and then go from there so that you don't have to worry with hotswapping. I need to work on getting a simple dhcp and a simple set ip address gamesave setup and see if it will work. Shouldn't be difficult to get one to work. _________________

My wife and I tried the hotswap thing for like 3 hours straight and it DOES NOT WORK. we tried HELLA combonations of cables...
seriously how could you dissconnect the ide from the hd on the xbox when thats what ur trying to access...
it says to dissconnect the xbox hd and put it in the pc... that makes no sence
or am I just doing it wrong...
it keeps saying no os no os or some shit...
is there a GAME that can move any file from your memory card to the xbox hd? because if there is, I can just use mech again and it will be on my hd...
HELP!

you cant put the gamesaves back on because you have no dash to do it with and theres no game out there that will fix this, you have to keep trying to do a hotswap until you get it. _________________

I dont see how people can hotswap it in like 3 seconds...crazy

it works....i softmodded mine through a hotswap....my suggestion leave a game in so you know the hd's unlocked.... _________________

its pretty much trial and error pratice.. just keep on trying it til u get it..
sjon had a point.. if the ar mem card has the saves u can load them using 007 ...
but ur linux and ur gamesave should be their.. did u delelte it ? or u just expec it not to be there?
put game and power off xbox and power on... this is called coldboot.

yes its deleted... i didnt delete it.. it does play games..bah

Your only other option besides a hotswap is to chip it.
To confirm that you doing the hotswap right: open xbox and pc. loosen the IDE cable on the xbox HDD. have a cable running from master IDE channel on your PC mother board, and have a CD/DVD drive on your secondary channel. Boot the PC with your xboxhdm boot disk in the cd-rom. When you get the main xboxhdm screen, turn on your xbox, and try to listen for physical clicking from the xbox HDD. Timing is picky, but remove the xbox IDE cable and attach the PC IDE cable. Choose one on your computer, and see if you can access the hard drive.

For what it's worth, I had an error 13 on my softmodded Xbox last week (I was messing around with stuff in A.I.D. 3 that I shouldn't have been, and I wrecked my UnleashX install)
I just took my hard drive (not the original one, a 250GB samsung one that I had formatted with xboxhdm for use in my Xbox) and put it into my pc, in the same way that I did when I was first preparing it.
First, I used xboxhdm to unlock the drive.
Then I used xboxhdm to "restore C:"
Last, I used xboxhdm to lock the drive again.
Put it back in the Xbox, and everything was cool (had to re-apply the softmod, though, but that's easy).
So, I didn't need to "hotswap" in my case - just put the hd into a pc and use xboxhdm.
