If I install Softmod with AID 3 or SID 4.5 +XED Is there any dashboard or app that could unlock the hdd? I think configmagic can but I will delete that.
If I have understood correctly a softmodded xbox is just like a chipped with the differency that softmodded boots a "bios" through hdd?

With SID 4.5 it uses a ghost EEPROM and C-drive to keep the HDD from being unlocked or other files from being removed, but it is not completely idiot proof. _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!

ghost EEPROM and C-drive work well with pal SC1?? I heard rumours that with SID4 it had troubles but I guess they are fixed with 4.5.

if you modded with sid 4 then you have an eeprom backup nested in a savegame on E drive somewhere - use that to create a xboxhdm linux iso. With just the eeprom.bin in the eeprom folder you can boot to the linux disk and choose the locking tools menu (refer to the hotswap tut. from pirrup) -- i think its lockhd -a or something like that.
You have locked your hd with the correct eeprom at that point. Keep in mind that you cannot use an eeprom backup that you make with evo-x or somethign because that is the patched - virtual one (im hypothesising logically so I may be wrong)_ I would definately use the one buried within the save game on E drive. _________________ xbox v1.0

so sorry to say lee but your incorrect sid 4.5 does not have this eeprom ghost aka fake eeprom sid 4.0 does .... the eeprom was the reason pal users and some nstsc games would have bugs .... that became eliminated onced sid 4.5 came along
ninjagaiden: well dont install programs that can unlock your hd..... if you have ppl that can mess with the softmod then i would put the eeprom patch ... which can be as sid 4.0 but honestly i wouldnt think this is a problem since you can do 2 things about it .... one always back up your info on to a pc and 2 dont have any apps that can unlock your hd
