Well a hard mod is just simply, a mod chip. A mod chip is used in place of the softmod exploit, and if you do not wish to worry about screwing up your xbox software wise. It is sorta complicated to install pending on if your a newb or not and hardware. But it is way easier to install things and hdd. Depending the type of chip, and if it is solderless or not, will affect on how you put it in. _________________ Moddingbandit

Exactly moddingbandit..
There are 2 main types of modding xbox. well 3 actually including the TSOP flashing but we wont talk about those.
Softmodding - Is modding your xbox with the use of software only NO HARDWARE.. THis mod is really no different then a modchip apart from if you receive some errors.. Then a modchip really holds its own.
Modchipping - Is modding your xbox with a modchip soldiered or fitted to the motherboard. Once you get your modchip installed you can always recover your xbox using AUTO INSTALLER DELUXE (http://www.aideluxe.com).
