Posted: Sun Feb 19, 2006 12:00 pm Post subject: Several games refuse to work after upgrading HDD
I softmodded a retail 1.6 XBOX using SID 4.5.
After few days I upgraded the HDD using xboxhdm. Everything went smooth.
What I did was copy real C drive to xboxhdm C folder, then I added two empty folders (Audio & fonts, xboxhdm refuse to work if this folders are not present). Than I copied the E XBOX drive to E folder and .. I rebuilded the drive, than locked it and... everything went smooth.
However, after the upgrade some games refuse to work. Like Counter Strike for example and few others. When I put the old drive (10G Seagate) back all games suddenly started to work. Then I put the large one (80 Gs Seagate) and the stopped to work again.
Other games however work (like Halo 2 but Halo 1 does not).
I am using evox as a dashboard.
Does some one have a clue why?

I would like to add that I have tried the following
1. Clearing X, Y & Z
2. Switching several times PAL->NTSC->PAL

Both backups and originals refuse to work. IOW some work and some don't
Any ideas, frankly I am feeling strange.
SID 4.5 is installed in single boot mode btw.
I will try tomorrow to clear chache on E. However I wonder what CACHE on E is used for...
And the most strange thing is that everything works fine on the retail disk (which is softmodded also).
