Hello, here is my problem. I have a smartxx v2, and I was flashing a new eeprom with configmagic (hold on I'll get to the HDD issue) and everything seemed to work fine. I have flashed with configmagic before successfully so I wasnt too worried about it. Well, after I complete this process, when I boot to the original bios I get an error #6, which I know is an unlocked HDD. I had this problem before when I was flashing my last EEprom, but I was able to get back into my Evox dash, and relock my hdd. Well now, I get an error 13 when trying to load any hacked bios. The HDD tool in Smartxx tells me that the HDD is locked and unlocking is not possible. So I tried to use ATAPWD and HDUNLOCK both to unlock the drive with both the Teamassembly pw and the pw I got from the smartxx bios. Neither one worked because somehow even though I backed up my eeprom, I dont have the correct eeprom in to get the correct pw out of smartxx. So my question is, I backed up all the eeproms in the list when ftp-ing into the box with a browser window and the ip address of my box. Can I flash those eeproms with some program, or through the smartxx dash, because it seems that smartxx will only allow you to restore the previous eeprom, and I think somehow I have the bad eeprom in both the current slot, and the backup slot. Thanks a bunch for reading.

I would reccomend using a second HDD, not locking it, load evoX, and Config Magic, reflash the EEPROM with the one that you think it is and try to boot again.

BTW: error 13 is a Dash ERROR, not can't unlock HDD. Did you try to reload EvoX? MSDash?

Lee337, thanks for the reply, but Im not sure how that would help me with the bad lock I have on my current drive. I should mention that I have a backup of 3 previous eeproms, and have tried flashing each eeprom to the box, and unlocking but that wont work, and have tried unlocking with the xbox hard drive connected to my computer, with the hard drive passwords from each eeprom and that didnt work either. Is there any program that will just unlock the hard drive without requiring a password? Or is there a program that will tell me by reading the hard drive what password it was locked with? Thanks again, I know its a lot of questions, but any help is good.

Sorry for the double post, but I forgot to answer a question of yours. I actually loaded several different hacked bioses thinking it might be a bios problem, and none of them worked. I did this via a remote flasher program that lets me flash eeproms and bioses right to the chip from my computer.

If your HDD is unlocked you can get error 13 on a hacked bios with a bad dashboard and then get error 06 on the retail bios, because it can't unlock an unlocked hdd.

Have you tried to reload any dashboards?

no, i couldnt do much with the dashboards cause my hard drive was inaccessible. I could not even get to my hacked bioses. However, using the same system i described in my first post, i unlocked the hard drive which had a bad lock on it, then my bioses worked fine. It was weird though because i was getting different pw's loading the same eeproms. Anyway, i was able to unlock it in the smartxx dashboard and everything is fine now, finally. Thanks for the help

I'm glad that it worked out for you. I'm sorry if I wasn't very clear before.

Good Luck in all of your future XBox endevers!
