I've been reading through old posts on the site and think I know the score on this but confirmation from the experts would make me feel more comfortable.

If I'm using a chipped xbox am I perfectly safe to unlock the standard hdd and put it into another xbox and lock it again and at a later date unlock it and put it back in the original box?

If I put in a new bigger hdd (chipped box again) and it won't lock then that's not a problem unless I want to use live , right?

If the new drive won't lock with ConfigMagic or the lock option in EvoX would I be right in saying no other program on AID will lock it either?

Finally, if I give my SOFTMODDED box to a mate I should advise him NOT to try and unlock the hdd for any reason unless he knows exactly what he's doing ,right?

As always, many thanks in advace for your advice!

1)yes its safe to unlock your hd with a chipped xbox but u wont be able to run ms dash... but why would you unlock it ???

2)if u put it on anoter xbox u need a diffrent eeprom for that other xbox or your going to end up with #06

3) same story put new hd and dont lock it no ms dash no live.

4)OF COURSE DONT UNLOCK IT IF ITS SOFTMODDED . you need to have it locked no matter what when it comes to softmods.....

Absolutely, however, it's a lot easier if the other box is chipped too.

Correct again!

Most likely you are correct but if anyone else has other programs recommended, you are welcome to chime in. If I may, if the hdd is giving locking issues after using the unlock feature in either Evox or Configmagic, I'd run away from it anyway. Laughing

Advise him not to unlock the softmod ever because if he does, I guarentee he has no clue as to what he's doing.

Thanks guys. So even if both boxes are chipped, if I unlock the hard drive with one box and then stick it in the other do I still need a different eeprom?

I only got into xboxes after a xmas present this year so sorry if my questions seem a bit daft! I'm learning slowly though thanks to you guys!

well if xbox are chipped u dont need locking rememer? the eeprom is used to lock hds..

chips= no locking require Very Happy

softmods = MUST REUQUIRE locking! .. using eeproms..

each eeprom is married to the mother boards on each xbox ...

does this clear up ?
