No, that's crap they are talking to you about.
There is only 1.6a and 1.6b and as far as where the D0 is, it's in the same place. All it is, is a difference in chips used really.
Yes, the Xenium Spice will get you where you want to go!
By the way, a friendly thought. The place you are thinking of buying from shows Availability: Preorder... I'd recommend find someone that has it in stock and order there. If none are in stock where you want to buy from, wait. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Yeah, there really isn't a 1.7. If you do a little research, you'll find out that what they claim is a 1.7 is actually a 1.6C. It's basically a 1.6 a or b, just some of the D0 holes are covered up and filled. To use a solderless adapter is a little tricky. I have a 1.6C xbox with the xadapter1.6 for the X3CE. To get it to work correctly, I actually had to go and buy a fiberglass pen and some needles. I used the fiberglass pen to remove some of the coating on the motherboard then heated up the needles and drove them through the D0 holes (VERY CAREFULLY) to get the adapter to work. It was tricky but not too bad. If you end up having a 1.6 box, you can get it to work solderlessly, it's just more of a pain. Hope that helps. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

actually im not sure a 1.6c is really a true "different" version, as different versions such as the 1.1 and more have the holes filled that need to be cleaned with a fiberglass pen, and they arent named with letters...just trying to avoid confusion... _________________ Xbox-V1.1-Xenium GOLD OS 2.3.1-X2 5035

I'm just pulling that information from the team xecuter forum's where I had to research the problem I had installing my 1.6 solderless adapter. They called it a 1.6c, and they are very rare acording to the forum. Special needs were required to make it work, not JUST the fiberglass pen. But you're right, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a totally different version, it's just be confirmed from various people with the box that that is the case. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

They actually are very easy to mod, it is just there is extra laquer on the board. They are not rare at all, although some people have claimed they have got them with closed or no vias, just blank end to the trace instead of a via. It is just the laquer has gotten into what is already very tiny via. No 1.6c, no 1.7, no 1.5, no Santa. _________________ 1.6b, Xenium !ce OS 2.3.0, External 160g WD, External 250g Seagate, Double blade UFO Fan over Jewel

? are you sure about that? i've dealt with a few motherboards that fall under a catagory of what would be a 1.5 (ones in which you need to wire an LPC pin to a ground...

Again it's a yes/no, they are actually faulty 1.4's that got out of one of the Motherboard plants. But everybody rushed to be the first to verify a new version so the moniker stuck. I actually got one that only needed the 1 wire as well, most need 2. _________________ 1.6b, Xenium !ce OS 2.3.0, External 160g WD, External 250g Seagate, Double blade UFO Fan over Jewel
