Well I have reading on the net and around this site, and how you can softmod the xbox. I have ha my xbox for a while and I have not used it so I figured I can softmod it. Well, I checked xbox-scene and I have found out that I have xbox version 1.1 since the last 2 digits of the serial are 05. I have dashboard version 5960 too. Now I have mechassault platnum, and splinter cell original, in the green case you know with the highest scores sticker of 9.6 or something. Now my question is, what program do I use? SID 1, 2, 3, or 4? Also will the action replay memory card work? Or do I need a Microsoft Memory card. I also have a lexar jump drive 256mb.

Ok, I'm sorry for asking about that, but since this is a modding forum, can I still get my old questions answered? I meant what I wanted to do was burn some of my xbox games to my xbox's original drive. Would there be enough space after the softmod? I do not want to use the discs because most of them are somewhat scratched and my little brother has used them roughly.
Now can my questions about which SID and wat type of program, AR or Mega x to use?? Also, I have also found out that the lexar jump drive, sports kind is not supported.

You might be able to backup 1 or 2 games in total... depending on the size of the games. Either Action Replay or an origonal Xbox mem card will work. _________________ http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-211.html

hi Selayan
well what i would do 1st is : softmod your xbox properly with its ms backup < very important gets u out of trouble and eeprom . <<<< 2.then ftp all of your xbox to your pc for sake keeping .....
3.once you got that then i would buy a hd to make because the retail ( oem ) hd has either 8gb or 10 but u can only use 4gbs no matter what ... its not because of the softmod but that is how it is ...
some times ppl have F folder that is when u got 10gbs other then that u got 8 period no way around this...
its really simple to upgrade hds ..... u just need eeprom to lock it and thats it ....
as far as the softmod ver is up to u .. but i recommend staying up to date with sid4.5 or at least 4.0
keep in mind you need owen one of the original exploitable games such as : 007 auf = agent under fire , ma or sc first one that came out...
now platinum edition doesnt really work somtimes but rarely....
i would say ma is the 1st easiest one then 007 auf and last sc ... anyways good luck on that and its totaly worth it buying hds because it loads faster and cooler and less noiser then retail hd no matter what .. my expericed... and the games that u put to hd will not have loading time...!! _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

Thank you so much for the repliues. I have bought an Action Replay MAX and I will get all the things I need from torrents i guess. I have an old 80gb hard drive in my HP computer that we no longer use. I will ask parents if its ok, that I take it and put it in my xbox. I'm going to start this process tonight and see how t goes. I will keep the retail hard drive and just see what its like. I might not even change the hd. As long as I can watch video cd's and xvid videos, and ftp them to the xbox, I'll be ok. so just fellow my last post carefulyl.....
get sid4 and well its scritpt so if u dont do its requirements it wont let u softmod it ...
such as :
1st create eeprom backup
2nd create ms backup...
once u have fully moded xbox then ftp ur content for safe keeping....
then u will get your real eeprom and retail ms dash files from pirrups signiture and drag it on xboxhdm1.9 and do the hd and ur good..
but 1st things 1st.. n take it easy... softmod xbox
2nd ftp contents

I willgo gathering the files now. I was on this other site, softmod deopt and they said to use Krazyies udo or nodule something installer 1.1, that way suto installer would not mess anything up. I was confused about which method to do so right now I'm looking through their #xbins channel through ftp figuring which splinter cell save and things i need. A little confused. Would be better if they had a tutorial.

I will take ur word for it, Krazies installer has you manually ftp many other things on there, while AID a 3 and all the rest, has like a package thing. Is there an SID 4 /4.5 tutorial here that I can follow?? I know where to get SID4 4 or 4.5 but I dont know which splintercell saves I will need.

u need 2 files sc game save and linux install....
read on the threads about sid4 ..... but its really simple u drag the files run the linux click create eeprom backup back it up then create ms backup back it up install softmod > dual boot or single boot region/ evox or ux... then its does auto patching etc etc.. turn it off power it back on quickly ejed the try taking ou the game close tray b4 it loads and u should be fine...
note: never try taking the disc out late ...
i just do it like that as its describe... power on xbox normal and ejec the disc out and close the tray... _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

OK, so right after I get the option to back up everything, where does it back it up, On the 8mb card? Or on the xbox hard dirve? I dont have an ethernet cable longenough to have it connected to my xbox at the time this will be going on. So how would I let it back up? If it backs it up to the card, I can run over and just use AR to transfer the back ups. Or can I back up to the hard dirve everything and just ftp it later after I am done??

dont worry it will do it all by its self auto .. but its of course doing it to the hd...
