Heya all.
I've recently softmodded with the http://www.techfreaks.org/articles/modxbox.shtml WOOT!
I noticed the small Xbox HQ link at the bottom and dicovered this forumand have been reading alot of your articles and post.
1st off thank you all for your efforts in helping out us newbies and the others who have encounter problems.
It's always good to see a forum where posts don't demean fellow members or spend half of the articles Bitching and moaning about useless information!
It's also nice to see that a site offers many resources for expansion of player's pleasure, and because of that I opted to join your community.
I am a newbie and not a tech so forgive me if what I state doesn't make sense or seem very technical
However Last night I ran across a bizzar problem... Let me start my story.
Finding a HDD that I had set aside a while back I remebered the article I ahd seen in Techfreaks section...
So on Sunday I decide..."COOL" Upgrad my HDD on the xbox following the http://www.techfreaks.org/articles/modxbox2.shtml. I was dancing for joy when I saw how easy this was to do.
I prepared all that I needed (backing up my info, created the .iso boot CD and ect. )
and off i was removing my HDD from the pc and started.. Slap in the boot CD turn on the power and ....Uh Oh...The Linux intro line would flash on the screen and then....nothing.
*Hmm* I reboot.
Booyah! the menu appears. So I enter # 1.... Nothing!
*Double HMMM*
Reboot and this time nothing at all.
*DAMNIT*
Reboot again.
This time the linux load line and then nothing....
I Attempt to retrace my steps and fix possible problems
This goes on for a couple of hours.( trying to disconnect and reconcet the cables, reformat a blank HDD ect.) I tried over and over to check all possible problems but to no end.
Frustrated that such an easy tutorial was turning into a nightmare I got up and had a smoke and a coffee. Paced around the kitchen swearing under my breath at failing in attempting a 1..2..3..step program that my 10 year old could probably do.
After calmining down a little I go back take a dee breath. reconnect the HDD and put in the cd...
I retake out the Cd from the tray. I had created a boot DVD so I figured why not try a boot CD instead!
I reconnect my PC HDD create the boot CD and off we go again...Of course now the 1..2..3 steps work like a hot knife through butter and Voila a new HDD for the Xbox.(Go figure)
hook up my X box and all is good. Sunday Night and Monday morning I play my games and check a few of the programs to see if all is good and it is.
I leave for work and come back Monday night figuring I should double check the DVD and see if my movies play.
I turned on the xbox...
The Eveolution X dashboard loaded but I was surprised to see that the only options were
MS Dashboard
Settings
Rebbot Xbox
Turn off Xbox * (Or whatever the last one is)
I had lost the (And by lost I mean they weren't there)
Applications
Load game from HDD
play game from HDD... part of the menu's.
I didn't delete anything )
Now My question is this... Could this have to do with the BIOS Clock? After 24 hours it would have "reset" Or could I have ran an application off the Xbox that I shouldn't of?

This could wrong, but as a trial and error I would do the following
1.FTP into box c:/evox.ini check to see if it has menu stuff their! If not i would grab another dashboard evox or what ever you want to use. If all is good with the (.ini) I would try to install the dashboard again if you havent already done so
2.I would grab AID2.1.1 final and use that to redo the softmod besides it being the best thing to ever be used on the xbox. It will allow you do many other things as well!
3.I would also try Unleash dashboard in my mind its one of the top 3 to use.

Thanks for the info.
I did infact reinstall last night and everything seemed ok...(of course originally it seemed ok also )
But I'll more likely go for option 2 AID2.1.1 sometime tonight anyhow.
Since you state that there are MANY other things you can do
