Posted: Sun Jan 15, 2006 5:55 pm Post subject: I have modded my box and flashed bios, now what
I am new so please be nice. I have modded my box (1.0) with X3CE and flashed bios with X3. Now what, all the tut's seem to stop here and say enjoy your modded box, well sorry but I am too new (stupid) to enjoy it yet. One thing I would like to do, is try out a downloaded game before I buy it, not asking where to get them, just how to proceed. If they are already in an iso format, is it just a straight burn to DVD-R? Do I need to add a dashboard? When I boot with chip enabled it goes to a different screen then the standard M$, is that an alternative dash? Any help is greatly appreciated, I have tried to read lots of tut's, but this is as far as I can get on my own.
Thanks!

OK, if that is piracy in your opinion that's fine, but let me make it clear that if I like a game, I buy it, I have tried games and didn't like and glad that I didn't waste my money, games or any software that I like I have no problem supporting the developers. How many people here on anywhere else can say that honestly! And another note, I choose this site to post to because it was stated that "you" are nice to noobs here, can't say that is the case! If the word downloaded games shouldn't appear in a post say that, I also checked posting rules before I posted, it states not to ask where to download games....as you can see I did not ask that. I also asked questions that were not specific to downloaded games at all, if being helpful was on your agenda, why not take the time to respond to the questions about dashboards?

Yeah, don't worry about it, you're fine, just steer clear of asking about "downloaded" games or anything. The ONLY thing you're going to need now that you're mod chip is installed and properly flashed is Xbox-HQ's very own Auto-Installer Deluxe 2.11 FINAL! You can go to the website, www.aideluxe.com and you can find out how to download it. Burn it to a blank dvd-r or cd-r or whatever and it does everything for you. If you have any questions, the manuals for it are located on the website. Enjoy! _________________ XBOX v1.6c

Hey T-Rizzle & DaJackal,
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it! I will do as you suggested and read up the manuals as well. If I run into problems or need anymore help I will write back (if I am still welcome here)! Thanks again for the posts, I know everyone was a noobie at one time, and if you remember back, this can be a little overwelming.
Cheers

Tell me about it, I probably did a good 3 weeks of research before I even TOUCHED my box. Keep us informed and let us know if you have any problems. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

OK, I've got AID, ran the updater and burned the updated iso onto CD-RW, which I know my xbox can read. Before I go on, I just want to make sure so I don't do anything wrong. When I put it in my box, will it load files to the HDD or do I need to tell it to do something, like load dashboards? I have read the AID manual as well and it talks about a virgin HDD, but mine is the original in the Xbox, so do I need to do anything to it, like partitioning, etc? If this all works, somewhere down the road I am sure that I will add a larger HDD, but now just want to understand what is going on.
Thanks again.

Boot aid and it will be pretty straightforward....it doesn't do anything you dont want it to.....format and prepare retail hdd then install msdash and then install dash to c....then install apps....you really arent going to be able to put many games on that hdd because it is so small....probably getin 1-2 on there.....as for the remark by rabid.....it was well put and quite nice actually....many of our admins like myself would have thought about locking the thread entirely.....you must understand that we must keep this site safe from m$......renting a game to try it out is a lot better than downloading it......good luck with everything. _________________ Xbox V1.6

Well let me back up some, I did run aid, but the only thing that I did was prepare retail hdd, I did not do the format, is that a problem? I also intalled XBMC only, that is all that I installed, again should I do more start over??? As for the earlier posts, fair enough, I will always try to follow the rules, certainly don't want to do anything that can endanger such a great site, and point well taken on game retals. Actually I've started another post going from my XBMC being installed, I thought that may be better to continue from there? But I wanted to address what you posted here regarding HDD format etc?
Thanks again
