I have two xboxes that were both softmodded by myself. I have three dvd burners and a legit copy of nero, dvd decryptor and qwix and a few other programs. I also have tried three different brands of dvd-r's. Now with a few different games I have been trying to figure out wtf it takes to get them to work on both xboxes.

With my xbox ( emerald green edition ) verbatim -r's work flawlessly, on the other xbox only sometimes. I have wasted quite a bit of time and money trying to figure out why the other box is so gay and im looking for a final answer lol. Anyone wanna let me in on what is going on here?? Is it just the wrong media???

ps .. The other xbox is almost one of the originals i think .. so it is a little older.

Hi zombietech.

Its funny you mention that because DJB is working on a database for media compatiblility right now.. It shouldnt take him too long to get a rough database design done..

Then i can implement.. It will save all our users lots of effort when looking for the right media to play homebrew stuff, movies etc etc.

or

Look for that PC dvd drive that you can hack the firmware on to make it work (can't remeber model might be a Samsung)

well you can almost find a used xbox cheaper than the replacement dvd rom and shipping.

Yeh ok. Its just the PC dvd drive with firmware hack takes all media like a pc does.

I looked around, i didnt see any mention of a drive like that. Do you remember which drive or make it was?

I personally have a 616t. Love that damned thing. I didn't do the hack myself, but I bought it used off ebay. The guy said that he didn't know what he was doing, blah blah blah. Anywho, got it, popped it in, and it works great... Only downside is; it doesn't read DVD+R's.... Oh well. As far as media compatibility, I've posted a sticky note in this forum about type (+R/-R RW/R) work with what drive.
