Hi all! In the last month, I have had this problem twice. I'll just be playing a game and I'll do something, then it'll lock up with a long, deep beep noise. The first time it happened, I was playing Sudeki (off an original, pre-owned CD). I had just killed the Behemoth as Tal and was making my way down the mountain when I ran into some enemies. I had killed them all except one, so I used a magic attack on it. The second it's health hit zero, the Xbox locked up. It also happened a second ago while I was playing Lego Star Wars (original disc, rental, so a bit scratched. Sudeki has some scratches to). I was in the droid factory level (playing as Anakin) and I went into the room where you have to change the force-fields as R2-D2. I accidently ran into one of the force-fields and it locked up, same beep noise. I was thinking that it might be my xbox getting old as I did get it at the end of 2001 (or was it 2002...). As most of you know, my box is softmodded (with the UXE method).
Another thing it might be is the CDs. Both LSW and Sudeki have a thin plastic film over the top, because they both came from BlockBuster. I bought Sudeki there for $25 and LSW was a rental from the same store. Also, the first time it happened, it was a 32 degree C day. The second time, I had been playing non-stop for about 4 hours. Could it possibly be heat?
I'm going to look for my microphone to see if I can get a recording of the sound, soon. Also, please excuse my grammar, it's 3 AM here =)
Edit: I should probably mention that with Sudeki, I had a trainer on, but for LSW, I checked my trainers and didn't have one.
Edit: Ok, I've been playing for 3 hours, so far, nothing. I think it must have been heat, as I had FTP'd some big files from my Xbox's DVD drive (I had some AVI's on a DVD, I needed free RAM on my laptop and putting a DVD in the drive doesn't really help the situation.) before playing. _________________ My Aki EvoX skin!

more then likely it was just your xbox overheating.. If it was a warm day and you were playing alot all day especially using the DVDROM it can overheat.. Ive noticed that with some of the older xbox 1 models but most are fine..
If it wasnt overheating the only other explanation would have been scratched discs or they were misaligned because of the video store stickers.. I could be wrong either way.. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks again!
Anyway, I've moved my xbox to the coolest part of my room, it's only in the sun for about 2 hours a day. Hopefully, this'll help. I've also positioned the fan so it blows over the top of the xbox, but still at where I sit. _________________ My Aki EvoX skin!

I found that last summer, my 'box would overheat after a few hours of playing on a hot day, but if this happens now, i just crank up the fan speed
or as you said, point the 'ol cooling fan at it _________________
