i got that screen before if your xbox bios is older, did you backup the eeprom by any chance? if so ,you're in luck. xboxhdm can help. That's probably a error 21, dashboard problem, ask a friend with solderless chip to help restore the MS dash or boot the AID again. (Is that you're using some cheap media to burn the disc? just guess)

It is an older xbox and I did backup the eeprom.
I am using xboxhdm xnd it worked great to restore the original hard drive when this happened before. For some reason the Maxtor HD will not work.
Also, xboxhdm when booted after restoring HD will not recognize my eeprom. It prompts me to enter another path etc.
when I boot using a lock/unlock floppy and run hdunlockx it says the drive is unlockable. I know it is lockable.
One more thing. I cannot repartition my HD with fdisk because it says the hd is a 12 GB hd. Partition magic gives me a 32 GB hd.
I will keep plugging away. Thanks for yor input.
Yes I also think this screen is a 21 screen because it did the same thing when softmodding and rebooting with the autoloader disk fixed it...Rick

Well, after many hours of thinking and scratching my head, I fixed my problem. Here is what I did.
First when I backed up my eprom using config magic, it was saved in upper case. Rename the files as lower case. Next, I did something bad to my hard drive and it only said it was 32 GB instead of 80 GB. I ran the maxtor hard drive installer and cleared the 32 GB index and reformatted it 80 GB. It was only 80 GB from dos. I installed xp pro on it and formatted it NTFS. I remade the drive with xboxhdm 1.9 and it worked ok.
When I tried to lock it as per part 2 of the process, that is when I found out that the eeprom files were upper case and renamed them to lower case. It still would not lock and said I should disable the auto detect of hard drives in my bios. The only way I could do that was to say not installed in bios for the maxtor hard drive. I rebooted xboxhdm and used option 3 and locked the hard drive. I just finnished softmodding it and all is good again.
Thanks to everyone who helpped. I could not have done it without your support...Rick
