Hi, a few weeks ago, I went and bought a nice external DVD-RW drive which is working fine except, it won't burn DVDs slower than 6x, which is causing burnt games to lag. since I do most of my burning on my other PC, I would prefer burning at 4x or even 2x. Alcohol 120% identifies the burner as an Imation IMWDVRW16DLE and the DVD-Rs are TDK data/video DVD-R's, clearly marked with "4.7gb 1-16x". How exactly would I go about slowing it down?
I know this might not be the right place to ask about this and I plan on emailing Imation about it (can't at the moment, email is messed up), but I actually typed half of this post while the game had frozen, trying to load the "I just hit you in the face" sound in jade empire.

Have you checked the site for a firmware upgrade? _________________ Xbox V1.6

I have, but it was bloody confusing. I went to the DVD media page, clicked the DVD firmware info link and clicked a link to this, but that didn't really get me anywhere. All that I could find was firmware for early DVD burners that only supported 2.4x to upgrade them to higher speed support.
edit: I did a bit more searching and I got absolutely bugger all. even if I had found something, I don't have the slightest clue as to how to upgrade firmware.
edit: ooops! I was looking at the wrong page. this is the burner I have. snazzy, isn't it?
also, was the site just dead for a minute?

oh, I think I see. on that page with the pic of the burner, it says 4x DVD+R DL. does this mean that I have to use dual layer DVD+Rs to burn slow?
