Hello. I'm trying to replace my original xbox hard drive with a Samsung 80gb (SV0802N). I've checked the hdd list, and it says this hdd model is compatible.
So, I've backed up my softmodded hard drive (evox 3935 dash) and copied it down to my computer. I've taken the contents of C and E and burned it onto an ISO image as the (many) guides told me to. That worked fine. Then I loaded up my new hdd in my computer with the bootable CDRW and created the fatx drive with the proper partitions (including F). I then successfully locked the hard drive with my eeprom.
But the problem arises when I actually put the hard drive in my xbox. I simply unplugged the old one and put in the new, but the LED flashes and gives me a service message after the animation. That's where I'm stuck. If I put my old hdd back in, it's fine, but all I want to do is get this working.
Am I suppost to use a different BIOS in order to get a new larger hard drive working on a softmodded xbox?
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Haha, that's hilarious. I forgot the easiest part of it. I'm going to try that now and see what happens. Thanks!
This is ironic, this has happened to me twice before when installing a hd and cd drive on my computers. I told myself I'd never do it again. And voila.
Edit: Well, turns out the jumper was set on "cable select" already. So, no problems there. What else could be the problem?

Well, as it turns out, it's not locking like I expected. It gives a success message, but it fails.
For some reason every time I disable security, when I lock the hd, it doesn't lock, only reenables the security. Atapwd also fails me...

Nevermind, got it. I turned on SMART in the BIOS and shut down after making the changes, works perfectly now. Thanks for the help.
