Hi,
I will be taking delivery of an xbox (dont know what v.) that has a chip fitted to it. The chip apparently is not working properly.
Is there any way I can re-flash the chip by using SID or AID ?
The guy had the xbox given to him and is not too bothered if it gets messed up - obviously I want to sort it for him and get it working. Any ideas ???
I will open it up when it arrives to see what chip is fitted and also post any trends it displays when booting.....or not !
If this is posted in the wrong place feel free to move it !
I am also going to put my softmod method on here soon - it is basically DJB's SID /AID but using different leads / memory cards.

hi,
What errors is the xbox displaying.. We really need more info..
If the bios is only corrupted you could probably purchase a programmer of some sort and flash via your pc..
Other then that you could also maybe install a softmod (thats if it boots original games ok).. Give it a go.. Like you said your mate doesnt care so have a play.
Either way you will be able to get it going.. Its just depending whether or not you can flash the mod first..
hopefully its a modchip that supports a PC flasher.

Hi,
Got the xbox today - manuf 15,02,2002.
supposed to be chipped, has signs of being opened.
only boots to m$ dash.
Tried with tray open & closed, disc in on boot up etc.
Will not boot any sort of disc original or backup.
Going to open her up to check what chip is inside but it sounds screwed up anyhow.
looks like the only solution is to softmod the beast.
I dont have any cables to do a re flash of the chip.
HELP !!!

not all chips require cables to be flashed. maybe the chip is just improperly installed

I was thinking the same thing.....
Seems strange that it will only boot the m$ dash ?
Might be a loose connection hence why no hacked dash ???
Will open her in about half an hour....will post again.

must be one of those 'stealth' chips !!!
opened her up and no sign of anything on the top or underneath the motherboard !!!
I would expect a DIY chip fit to be obvious.
Still doesn't explain it not playing any of my discs.

if there was a chip it would be obvious. so it was prolly a softmod. might want to check the solder points to see if you can tell if someone did a TSOP flash. it loads M$ dash though?? but not original game disks? no error codes or anything?

yeah it loads m$ dash but i get the 'xbox cannot recognise this disc' crap.
Copied the SC exploits in but i cannot get game disc to boot to do softmod.

Hi,
dvd drive looks like a THOMPSON.
Funny thing is when I get error message , eject tray for a short time then send it back in I get the xbox - microsoft logo screen then it either freezes or I get a red screen.
I have also cleaned the lens.
Any thoughts ???? _________________

Just got it to boot SC and it froze up half way through loading the game.
something is not right with this one....
I cannot get it to boot again ?????????
Might it be a DVD drive issue ?
I need to mod this beast !!!!

WEIRD !!
The xbox seems to recognise music cds and will play them no probs !!!
Why wont it load my SC disc ????

My other box is still under warranty dont want to break her open.
this thing is frustrating....cant get it to boot a disc now !!!!
