After an unsuccessful attempt to remove a softmod I can no longer boot my Xbox to the dashboard. Some of the necessary files are missing on the C: partition and the saved games for the exploit are no longer on the HDD. I have been trying to repair the drive by doing a hotswap but I can't get the timing right. I have another xbox modded with a Xenium chip. Can I use the Xenium OS disk tools to repair this drive and then put it back in my unmodded Xbox? Any advice would be appreciated. TIA.

Yes you can use the chip to fix your hdd. Just remember that the disc needs to be locked to run on the unmodded box. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

Forgot to mention that you might have to put the chip into the box you want to unmod. That's so you can read the eeprom and unlock the hdd to do the editing. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

Can you still boot off of commercial games from the xbox with the dash problem? If so you could boot up one of 'those' games (like mechassault) and run the save game to boot over to an AID2cd then restore the files on C:\.
If not and you still know your HDkey written down somewhere you could stick it in a PC, unlock it, disable security and then boot up the XboxHDM cd and do a restore.
Hope this points you in the right direction.

I used the Splinter Cell expoit to do the Softmod, but unfortuanately I deleted the saved games from the HDD when I was cleaning the Softmod off the Xbox. I still have them on the memory card but I don't have any way of getting them back on the HDD since the MS dash won't load.

Sorry... I was under the impression you could load the exploit from the memcard? Can't you? If so then since he has it on the mem card all he needs to do is run the exploit far enough to run AID? Ok.. am I missing something?

i thought i heard once that ONE of the games exploits would work from the memory card, but i don't want to get your hopes up. i don't know if that was a rumor nor do i remember what game they mentioned. if you have access to all three games and an easy method to get teh saves to a memory card, you might want to experiment. so long story short, no idea sorry
edit: to boing - the gamesave is transfered off the memory card and onto the Xbox to run it

Gotcha - I suppose that makes sense...
In that case I'd point back to the XboxHDM method if he has
1) a backup of his HD Key (although I think this can be overcome through a hot swap - yuck).
2) something resembling a backup of a C: (you could probably extract what you need from AID if you had to).
Speaking of which... I'll be starting a new thread about a problem I've been having the last week...
