So I am new at modding and all.
I think that I'm going to get the Xecuter 3 Mod Chip. It's 80 CAD (TOO MUCH) at Modchip.ca.
If you have this chip, tell me why you like it, and why you think it's better than other chips.
If you have it and don't like, tell me why as well.
***Also, There is no programer need because you can flash it via FTP, right?
TIA,
Xboxfreakkid

Yes, it can be flashed via network...you flash through browser not FTP. Basically, you just select network flashing from the flash bios menu and then open a web broswer and enter the IP address that shows up on the flash bios screen.
Something like, http://192.168.1.105 or whatever shows according to your home network configuration.
What I like about it is the ability to just slap on the X3 Control Panel. I like being able to tweak some of what the bios does via Config Live. Instead of having to open up a bios in a program like EvTool you can just do it onboard. Now, that is a feature that probably 65% of X3 owners don't even touch.
Most X3 owners purchase because of the name...which is the wrong thing to do. If you find a need for several bios banks, on the fly bios configuration, and a measly 30 day warranty...AND, you don't mind external switches (even though the switch technically isn't needed) then the X3 is for you!
BUT, if you are just looking for a mod chip so you can enjoy a modded Xbox, play your game backups, emulators, launch applications, have fun with Xbox Media Center, and so on...then you are just as well purchasing a $20.00 X-Changer V2 chip from www.extreme-mods.com
It's an easier install, less convoluted flash (even offers netorking flash which is a first in my book for fourth gen chips that cost less than forty bucks).
If you are going to want an LCD panel on your Xbox then by all means grab up the X3. It truly is one of the most powerful chips...but the external switch still somewhat baffles me. Don't get me wrong, I do have a little bit of love for the X3 but for new installers it can be a tough task to get the X3 up and running. Make sure you do your homework prior to installing this chip. And, unless you want to wait for your chip for a few weeks, I would avoid ordering from www.xbox-modchips.com Are you looking at a solderless install or are you planning on soldering? What version Xbox do you have?

And what is "slow"?
I like the thing that hangs out of the xbox... it's cool. It tells you if it's on or off...

I enjoy my x3. The main reason for the purchase was the ability to change settings on the fly. The install part isn't to bad. If you do use the chip you will need a x3 bios in order to take full advantage of it's features. Once the bios is on and working you are home free.
Plus, on this site there is great support. So any kind of problems just put up a post and somebody will help you get it sorted. _________________ Xbox v1.3

Exactly. Now, how do I find out what version my Xbox is? and am I correct that the chip works with all from 1.0 - 1.6?
Is there a bios alredyinstalled?.... if so, I still have to put a dashboard on, right?(EvoX)

As for the bios, if you want to install evox (which is a dashboard) you will need a hacked bios. The chip does come with a cromwell bios I believe, but in order to install evox, you will need the hacked bios which you can find at the usual places. If you are really interested in doing this, I highly reccomend becoming a VIP member and download Auto Installer Deluxe (AID) as it makes the install extremely simple to do and it comes with every application and dashboard you would ever want (well, for most people at least). _________________ XBOX- V1.0

Chip works with all versions.
The only bios that will be on the chip is a Cromwell Version. This is only on the chip so you can flash the chip with the bios of your choice.
Here is a couple of links to find your xbox version
The install on a v1.6 or v1.6b is a lil more involved then on a v1.0-v1.5. _________________ Xbox v1.3

Exactly. They can't be selling an illigal item as that would be illigal.
Ok
BTW, could anybody give me a direct link to the newest X3 Bios?
