Alright, so I was soft modding my Xbox, and I backed up the dashboard. As stated by the instructions. So I then installed the new dashboard and it said it would wipe my C drive clean, so I did it. I even took the precaution of backing up the original Xbox files onto my external Hard drive. I shut down the Xbox once the update finished and I started it up again. Got a error 21 and popped splinter cell back into the drive and looked for the save file....worse case scenario has just fallen upon me. The save game is gone, I can't reach the memory, The CD won't boot for AID. So I'm stuck sitting here wondering what the funk to do. I need Help...severly...I can still play games but the soft modding destroyed my dashboard and I need some input.Much appreciated.

Same thing happend i formatted it an bam everything gone can some one help us?!
all i get is the service error when i try to turn it on w/ out a xbox game

Hahaha, the files are obviously still there because when I do a internet troubleshoot it works fine. But its just the menu. I found a forum post http://xbox-hq.com/html/posts7728-highlight.html but I sounds like I'd be wasting my time because I don't have any tools to open my Xbox and also I would need to get back onto Xbox live. unlesss.....*reaches for a hammer*... help required

Hi Nelson,
You will have to do a softmod recovery.. Or you could fit a modchip to fix your errors..
worst case scenario is you need to purchase a modchip and fit it..
then your xbox will boot AID again and you can reformat (safely) and reinstall everything.
