I was just wondering if these drives were used for anything - they're like 700 megs each, and I could use them as more space for a game I need to copy to the hard drive (my hard drive only shows like short of 3 gigs free)

do not touch the drives. they are cache drives so your games can run properly. then only thing you ever should be doing in them is clearing them for maintence. you are VERY limited for space on a stock hdd. i'd recommend atleast 120 gigger

Ugh, I gotta use google more - I found this just after I asked.
I've got a 160 gig HDD, but I can't use it...because well I still play on Live.

Well as long as you are using modchip you can use them. Just unlock both drives, (lock the live drive when you are ready to play).
I did this with a bud of mines, I had several spare xbox hdd's laying around ,and a I copied some episodes to one HDD and he just swaps out with HIS hdd which has a game or two _________________ XBOX v1.6

Also, wanted to say, you CAN mess with these drives a bit
THEY ARE HIDDEN CACHE DRIVES, you don't normally recognize them in most file managers and FTP Clients.
The only time you want to alter the contents of these partitions:
Is when games don't load.....FOR EXAMPLE
If you buy/rent a game, play it from disc, you have stored a cache of information to be readily available to access to prevent full load times from disc alone...
THEN, you decide you want to rip it to HDD with DVD2XBOX.
You run into a problem , nothing will play after ripping
This is where you alter the contents:
You go to these hidden cache drives and delete the files inside, b/c they are specifically cached for access to the D: drive instead of the HDD.
ALSO!!!
Clear the cache in E:\cache for problems as well.
Just don't delete anything until you need to. _________________ XBOX v1.6
