ok i have a softmodded xbox with unleashx. in the menu there is an option for msdash, but i will never use it, and when i do try it gives me error 21. so i want the option gone. is there a way to delete it from the menu? i tried to by highlighting the option hitting the start button and going down to delete game but no dice. it just bugs me that its there and i can't use it. thanks for any help.

To access the MS dash the path has to be set correctly in the config.xml file. A lot of times when it doesn't work it's because it is pointed at C:\xboxdash.xbe, when it needs to be pointed towards C:\msdash.xbe. Now if you still want to get rid of that option, just look for the part in the config file that talks about the MS Dash and either delete the entire line or just the first < symbol. It will disappear as one of your options.

well it is pointed at the right file. c:\msdash.xbe but i didn't do anything special when i softmodded my xbox either. what i did was create the ms backup, and installed the softmod and installed the dashboard (unleashx). if i did want to access the ms dash do i need to do something else?

well i tried to patch it. but i did it from the aid2 disk and i had some batch error. When i restarted and tried to go to the dash the xbox live update appeared. so i hotswapped and now i am up and running again. ive seen a bunch of posts with ways to get around the error 21 message. but in every post someone else adds there 2 cents and i end up getting cornfused. is there an actual hands down working process for the patch. or will i end up having to hotswap to repeair my drive a few more times until i get it to work?

well i did it differently but it worked.
put mech assult in
wiped the c drive
installed softmod and unleash x.
than i booted aid 2 and installed ms dash
went back to mech assult and did an ms backup
patched the ms dash
re-installed softmod and installed unleash x again
probably did it the hard way but i'm happy now
another thing. what is the advantage of having ms dash? you can't run xbox live right? is it just for sentimental reasons?

I never use the MS dash unless....
-Im running the stock drive with my modchip off.
or
-Im using XBMC and I want to watch a DVD with menus and all. I have the XBMC xml configed to use the M$ player instead of XBMC playing it.
Other than that I have no use for that dash, but having the dash working so you can play real DVDs is a plus, even then you dont need to have a link to it within your menus, you can just define it as the default DVD player.
I dont care too much for the DVD ReigonX because I cant use my remote with it, but its nice if you have a DVD ripped to your HDD already.
Anyhow, If you want to remove the link from your menu goto your Config.xml at the root of C: and delete:
PS. If any Admins are reading this, do you think there is a way to get that manual converted to PDF? When I finished editing the manual I didnt have the tools to convert it from DOC->PDF.
