I have a silly question. I upgraded both my xbox's with 250gig hard drives. I didn't however enable the "G" partition and all the extra space is on the "F" drive. Everything seems to be working fine. I still have some 150gig left on the "F" drive.

Am I running any risk of data loss because I didn't split the extra space into two partions? Should I re-do these and use the "G" drive or am I ok with keeping everything on the LARGE "F" drive?

Cheers...........

Personally I'd suggest using a F and G Drive, it can come handy with making backups for example (you could make a backup of F and store it on G or vise versa).

You should be able to format your g drive seperately without losing any of your data.. Smile Use AID2 to format just hte G partition and you should be right..

Im hoping thats what you mean..

As you can see, from a few responses you will get it's just a personal preference type of thing. Personally, I like one big ass partition Wink

Even with my PC I don't bother splitting up my drive. Although I have a D: partition, it's the recovery partition only.

You will find that a lot of programmers prefer to split up massive drives into a couple or even a few different partitions. They tend to have to be a little more organized.

I personally do not think you are gaining any performance benefits out of splitting....it's just preference.

Which ever way you choose, you'll be just fine.

Thanks ModGod and Forahobby, I kind of figured it didn't make a difference but I really wanted to be sure before I put to much data on the drive than have to replace it all because I missed reading something someplace.

I am with you though ModGod. I keep all my drives as one partition (execpt my Linux Box). I do however have one hard drive for MS$ OS and any program installed. Then another hard drive for all my Data.

Anyway, thanks for the input guys.
