What several dollars and a few hours can do to an old beat up case is amazing.
If you have an old case and want to do something to spruce it up...here are some pics for you. This was one of the first machines every to come out..very old, very beat up.
I started up by totally removing ever piece of hardware and RF Sheilding.
I washed the case top, front, and bottom in a big sink basin with mild soap. After completely dry. I sprayed a little bit of armorall (spelling?) onto a dry cotton towel and shined up the case.
I then drilled out (using hole saw) the center where I installed a craxtion Xenium Ice Jewel with laser etching. After that, I affixed one of my 10 LED jewel rings (9000MCD LED flavor, blue in color). I drilled out my holes for the EL wire and then strung it through.
After assembling the case I cleaned off the areas that are going to have a skin with alcohol so the armorall would not effect the adherance of the skin.
Then I placed on a blue mirror skin from www.decalgirl.com. Of course I also fitted the ports with Blue LEDs (two 7000mcd LEDS in each port) and changed the eject LEDs to blue as well.
The machine looks muc better in real life than on pics. What a difference this has made for this machine.
Product costs ran around (wholesale) 80.00 with the rest of the customers cost being wrapped up in labor. This was done as an incentive for his son to do better in school. If he does, he gets his machine modded...for now, he'll have to look at his daddy's and be jealous!
