when i bought my xbox it already had a 200GB HDD in it, i've since been modding the box etc, but i've found that there is only 120GB available space on the HDD (it is definately a 200GB HDD) how can i release the extra space? please help

Sounds like all you need is a new bios that will support the bigger drive. But you will need to give more information as to what version xbox, what kind of modchip is in there, etc. for us to be able to help you further. _________________ XBOX- V1.0

ask the person you bought it from? also, i am pretty sure you will need to format the hdd, losing everything on there, just to let you know in advance. so start backing up anything you wanna save.

ok the manufacturers date is 01 december 2004 and by using a conversion table thing using the product ID to figure it out it seems it's origin is in week 49 2004, so i guess that makes it either version 1.6 or 1.6b? as for the mod chip, the board it's sat on has got an AMD chip on it and another chip that says x2 or something on it, hope this helps you help me, any more info you need, then please just ask

Heres a way that maybe can help you find out exactly which chip you have. If you start the machine using the eject button, what happens? Does it go to microsoft dash, or the chips operating system, or what? Is there any external devices connected to the chip (some chips like the xenium can have an external led, or the xecuter has an external thing and/or lcd?

when i press th eject button it boots to ms-dash (normal xbox mode) when i press the power buton it's in evox mode

Or just like installing new Dashboard etc.

You have a 1.6 machine...
Open your machine and see if your RAM is samsung or Hynix.
If samsung, get M8_16 bios.
If hynix get M8plus bios.
You need to read up on reflashing this chip. Not sure if you need a programmer or not, I have never had to reflash one of these chips since I have only installed a few X2.6 products and they worked first flash.
