Has anyone recently ordered with decalgirl.com
I haven't ordered in a few weeks and recently just placed an order for two customer consoles that I am working on. I got an email from someone who I have never dealt with and he explained to me that there has been some major changes with decalgirl.com.
The email address that his email came from was GamerGraffix.com so I am guessing there was a merger/buyout of some sort.
I'm curious to know if the product has changed, what any turnaround times people have experienced, things like that. Any personal experiences would be appreciated. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Personally i always deal directly with ryan..
I know for a fact he has quite a few employees now so im not sure about any changes or mergers etc..
I have not seen a bad comment yet about decalgirl but would be interested in any changes if you experience them.. I have purchased quite a few skins off of him and so has djb and some of our local friends..
They all gave him a thumbs up!
I got my skins yesterday, so the shipping time was about the same. The quality seems just as good. I was just curious to know if anyone else has expereienced anything.

Yeah, they definitely changed.... they wiped out all my account info and I can't even see my previous orders or anything. Now I don't know what is ordered not ordered, shipped or not shipped...damn. Plus I will now be subject to new pricing..... Oh well, I liked it better when I just dealt with Ryan and Amanda...

Doh!
Oh man what a mess. Why did they have to wipe all the info out.
That's not good service. It affected all their present customers. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Well, they may have just done it for retailers like myself.
I had specific codes I put in to receive cetain levels of discounts depending on what volume I ordered...
I ordered some skins and got an email about the change....and that there was going to be new pricing.
They are sending me a sample skin so I can see their work. They say they blow decal girl and designer skins away..
I wasn't a big fan of designer skins anyway, but I really liked decal girls product. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Personally I've had no problems with Ryan or Decalgirl in that matter at all, my emails have always been replied to, my orders are prompt, and the overall quality of the skins are unbelieveable...
MG, contact Ryan about this as he'll be able to give you a proper answer to what's going on, it maybe a merger or something, but I don't recall any big news on his site though.
Anyways, if you find out let us know...

I did contact Decal Girl direct.
The responses I get are not from Ryan anymore.
Jason, contacted me who is in charge of the Decal Girl change-over, just sent me some samples of their new skins.
I hate them!
I am sure others may like them, but I am unimpressed. They are exactly the same skins that you get from Designerskins. They are really thick and are slightly smaller than the DecalGirl skins and don't cover the exact same area. As a matter of fact, I think Gamergraffix and designerskins are one in the same company. The skins are identical and when I contacted Jason about an order I placed, he told me that the last skin order I placed was with designerskins....now how in the hell could he know that unless they are one in the same company.
I placed a blue mirror skin order with decalgirl that isn't going to get filled, but no big whoop. But to tell me that I placed it with a company that I ordered one skin from in my entire life is bullshit. The only reason I ordered the Abomb skin from designerskins is because a customer from Las Vegas sent me his machine and requested only THAT skin from THAT company. It took them over three weeks to get it to me. I wouldn't give designerskins a penny of my money.
Needless to say I am highly disappointed and will searching for the good old skins like I used to get from DecalGirl.
It's a sad day in skinning...lol.
I am going to try to contact Ryan, but I have a feeling he is no longer in the picture. Gamergraffix is more commercial. You can tell their boxes that contain the skins are set up for retail stores. They are much more commercial so the skins must be different quality to allow for an easier install. I think they put more money into their packaging than they do the skins to be quite honest. I understand on a retail standpoint why they had to make their skins the way they do, because you are going to see these skins in EB Games, GameStop, WalMart...places like that.
DecalGirl skins were easy to install if you knew what you were doing, but also very easy to crease, tear, or screw up if you didn't take your time.
The skins for GamerGraffix are impossible to crease unless you deliberately fold them in half and sit on them. They are 30mils thick. They look like they are made of plastic they are so thick. The backing now sayd Kodak instead of Avery. I would say you could take 40 of decalgirl skins and stack them on top of each other (off the backings of course) and you wouldn't have as thick of a skin.
The top piece actually comes in two pieces (top half and bottom half)
The front peices no longer wrap around the sides of the Xbox. There are no bottom pieces for front bottom, left and right bottom.
The pieces that go on the case top front (skinny pieces) only cover about 80% of the area that decal girl skins covered, plus they do not wrap around.
If anyone out there has any vendors that they use and got similar results to decalgirl, please let me know. I have a local printer that can do the main solid colors with no problems, but he cannot do the skins with designs on them.
If anyone talks to Ryan let me know. I'd be curious to know if he still has a printing company that is doing skins. But, DecalGirl.com is definitely GamerGraffix.com now...that much I am positive of.
AMANDA AND RYAN...WHERE ARE YOU!!!!
I miss your skins.... _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

On the phone with Ryan right now!
WoW...what a slick sales move on GamerGrafix part.
Here's what Ryan and I can tell possibly happened. (BTW, Decalgirl is still Decalgirl and Ryan and Amanda are definitely the owners.
On or about May 19th I ordered some skins from decalgirl. The very next day I got a spam email from gamergrafix that stated, We are not sure if you know, but there have been some huge changes with decalgirl..blah blah blah. Please contact me for more information.
Basically, what they did was this.
They knew I order all my skins from decalgirl cuz if you go to my site you can see the artwork has decalgirl logo. Also, I ordered a skin from Designerskins for a customer and they tried to get me to order more and I basically said, no I am happy with decalgirl.
Well, by them insinuating that there have been big changes I assumed that they were handling decalgirls clientel. But, in reality the big changes are that Decalgirl hired two new sales people and have secured ipod rights for skinning!
What I truly believe gamergraffix did to me was try to make it sound like they were taking over decalgirl and from now on I would just deal with gamergraffix.com
To make matters worse, I couldnt get into my account on decalgirl which again made me really really really believe that changes occurred.
I am working with Ryan right now in trying to find the original email that gamergraffix sent me so he can see what tactics they are using.
Pretty wild shit.
So, all is well at decalgirl. I am placing a direct order as we speak...**TheModGod Grinning from Ear to Ear!!!*** _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

If a company is dipping to those kinds of tactics to get your business, then I must assume that they are desparate and not to be messed with. I'm with you Modgod... stick with what you've got and you'll stay happy. Man I know one thing... I'd set the GamerGrafix email so it goes right to spam mail where it belongs....

Dude, I was freaking out...lol. I was scurrying to buy all of or any of the decalgirl skins that were left over..lol.
I would have mortgaged my house if I had to!! I had an interesting phone call with Ryan from decalgirl and I'm glad I called him. I also tried calling the sales rep who was emailing me and he returned my call, but wouldn't leave a message with any info.
I asked questions like if there were skins left from the takeover..shit like that..
He said stuff like, there's a few names that you mentioned that I don't understand so please call me back...lol. He didn't want his voice on the recording saying anything incriminating...lol. But, I have his first email that states "Big changes in decalgirl...blah blah blah". It was definitely a sales tactic... I tell you what, it confused the shit out of me and I am typically hard to get one over one.
But, the timing of my email and order to decalgirl with the spam from him really set the tone for mass confusion. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

I'm glad to hear Decalgirl is still the same and hasn't changed, it would be a shame if something did happen to them.
Reading what you posted earlier MG, I'd have to disagree that the Decalgirl skins are a little tricky to install, I didn't have a problem at all and neither did my mate who got one aswell. Funny enough, we had designerskin.com skins before this and from memory neither me nor him was able to put it on correctly, so there was an air bubble or two in them. Decalgirl's skins though, TOO EASY!!
I always recommend have 2 ppl skin an Xbox where possible, because of the 4 sides of top X, so you can hold 2 corners each, then lay it down on the top of the box properly.
Just to finish, is anyone up for a gamergraffix.com boycott, hehe? Man this is pretty low what they've tried to do, and I bet it's because they know MG would make a lot of orders for skins, so ofcourse it means they benefit. Heh, losers.

You can disagree with me all you want. It's obvious some ppl have no problems when installing decalgirl skins...that is for sure. Obviously you and I are two of them. However, I get loads of emails from ppl who have ordered the skins and they have a hard time with the install, especially the X portion of the skin. I'm sure like anything you buy if you don't take your time and do it right, follow any tips/guidelines problems will occur. Also, some people are just plain uncoordinated...but they can't be faulted for that.
The two people doing the top portion of the skin is a good idea. I have personally never had the pleasure of having an extra set of hands, so I have developed a pretty good method of installing decalgirls skins. I can apply their regular vinyl skins in about 5 minutes, while their full color skins for some reason are a bit easier to install and can actually be installed quicker for me.
I too had a designer skin which was actually the first skin I ever purchased, it was a green skin back in April of 2004. It was ridiculously cheap and looked like green xmas paper wrapping. It creased, showed every imperfection in the xbox case and was a disappointment all the way around.
I am unsure what their solid color skins are like now, but the full color graphic skins are impossible to screw up...literally. My 8 year old could install this skin in about forty seconds flat. She wouldn't know what to do with a designergirl skin, but this isn't a knock on those skins whatsoever. They are more customized, they cover a larger area than the designer and graffix skins do and decalgirlskins will be my skin choice for years to come.
I just had a member here who purchased one of my skins which was a designer girl skin and he had a hell of a time with it. Me on the other hand, I have installed hundreds and have only trashed one. There was actually something wrong with this skin as Ryan though that possibly too much adhesive was used. I couldn't get this puppy to come off the clear backing to save my life..lol.
Another thing I have found when installing these skins is, make sure you clean the surface of the xbox with alcohol. It allows the skin to adhere to the case quicker and allows you to have an easier time when peeling the clear backing off of the skin that has been applied to the case. If you don't clean it, you could have a good chance of the skin peeling off when the backing is attempted to be removed.
This whole experience really has me disgusted in gamergraffix tactics...the more I think of it the more pissed off I get. Everytime I was replying to their emails I assumed I was replying to decalgirl and the ruse just kept getting deeper and deeper.
At least it's nice to know that decalgirl isn't going anywhere soon
That was about the best news I have had in a week or so I was just about to take down all the artwork off of my shopping cart. You dont know how much work that would have been to put it all back online...lol. I would hae shot someone...HA.
