(softmod) can i switch back and fourth between dashboards without having to keep putting the disk in to restore my unleash x dash. i dont have the disk I softmodded my xbox with a friends disk and cant find a non-patched version of mech assult. any idias would be appreciated

If you're in need of a disc grab the Auto-Installer Deluxe v2.0 package, and also the v2.01 update which is vital for softmods.
It also contains Softmod installer deluxe 3 which can allow softmodders to use AID 2 (for most options).
Also, XSelect is a program worth looking at if you want multiple dashboards, you can just press a button on startup of your xbox (when the Xselect info shows up) and the xbox willl boot a assigned XBE on your HDD (anywhere on the HDD).
