Post subject: Question about SID 3

Hello,

I finally got autoinstaller deluxe 2.0 and I decided to check out the included softmod installers (SID 3), I also got the 2.01 update and included it in building my iso. I transfered the files for the 007 softmod to a memory card, then transferred to my xbox. Then I fired up the 007 game and tried to load the mod. It would not load, it locked up at a black screen. So after about 5 minutes, I rebooted my xbox. Then using a different xbox (softmodded already) I browsed through the game save files with unleashx. I noticed two xbe files, a menu.xbe and a default.xbe. If I tried to run the default.xbe it would lock up, but when I ran the menu.xbe file, it would bring up unleashx with the proper modding menu. Am I just missing something here in getting this to work without any modifications to the game save files or what?? The xbox I'm trying to testing this on is a v1.1. The reason I'm doing this is to find something thats newer than Ltools xboxhdm.

Thanks for any info, Very Happy

A little more info, I found that if I rename the default.xbe file to something obscure and rename the menu.xbe file to default.xbe, save that to my memory card and transfer to the unmodded xbox the game save will now load ok. But I'm not going to try to install the mod with out confirmation from someone familiar with this softmod.

Anyone??

Thanks again.

you need to load the safegame with the original game , you can't just browse to the dir and start a xbe Smile

Pirrup,

I think I confused you a little and for that I apologize. When I say I browsed to the dir and ran the xbe, I was meaning that after it locked up on my unmodded xbox, I put the game save on my modded xbox and browsed to it an tried to run it directly. This is how I found that if a ran the menu.xbe file, it brought up the menu. Once I found that I renamed default.xbe to default.bak and then renamed menu.xbe to default.xbe, copied the game save to my memory card and went to my unmodded xbox and tranferred the game save. Then ran 007 agent under fire and loaded the game save and the softmod menu came up. I have done a many of softmod's using Ltools UDE exploit, used xboxhdm countless times to upgrade to larger hd's, etc, and never had one fail yet. Normally I would expect to just transfer the SID3.007.Xbox-Hq.zip file to a memory card using action replay and then transfer to an unmodded xbox, fire up the game and load the game save and get the softmod menu, but for some reason, it isn't working that way for me and this is why I am seeking more information with this particular package. Very Happy

Thanks again,

Sadalius

PS, SH4D0WSP4RT4N I added you to my MSN messenger

ok, after looking at the default.xbe file with a hex editor I can kind of see what it is supposed to do and it is an important part of this package. I think maybe I wasn't allowing it enough time to run. When I get home, I will try it again, and just be a little more patient and see what happens. I was waiting at least a minute or two before I was turning off the xbox. But, I will figure this out, lol!

ok, I got it figured out. I wasn't doing anything wrong. It appears as action replay corrupted my game save when I transfered it to the memory card the first time. After I formatted the card and transfered it again, it worked like a charm. Thanks to all that responded. I really appreciate it.
